EDIT:  Of course, if they're doing it that way, wouldn't it make more sense to include Odom to the Magic for Turk, and then have the Magic trade Odom to Dallas?  That would free things up with matching salary requirements, etc.

Yeah, that's my thinking too.

Or it could be Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum that go to Orlando. Especially if Chicago goes forward and offers Noah and Boozer. A trade which would also give LAL lots of room to take back bad salaries.

It sounds more like they have something else up their sleeve and must be very good because Odom is a steal at the price he's paid.

Well, the other issue is that Dallas will likely have to give up some assets for Odom.  Picks, young players, etc.  And these could then be part of the deal for Howard.

I thought you couldn't package TE and players.

Sounds good to me.

Odom for a trade exception. Sounds like damage control for the Lakers. Big pickup for Dallas, though. They won't miss Caron Butler with Odom around.

They'd have to wait a month to flip the players, right?  And Dallas' picks aren't worth much.  Odd turn of events though.

Wojo now says the Lakers are shifting toward pursuit of Howard now. Much better target for them. I hope they don't succeed.

Can't you just picture Danny's extremely large smirk when he found out about this CP3 deal falling though? Haha

You are assuming that these trades won't be done simultaneously.  The Odom deal is not done yet.  They could just hold off on it long enough to make it part of a 3-way deal with Orlando.

If you believe what we heard on Thursday, that the Celtics were so close to getting Paul that they had a physical scheduled you would have to think they quickly revisit it and try to make it part of a bigger trade involving West.

No kidding. You trot out KG, PP, Ray & West, you're fine with Rondo as your PG....more than fine actually.
