Wow, that's a pretty aggressive bid.  Did the Kings really think they had a lot of competition, to the point of being compelled to offer $3 million per season?

Wow, that's a pretty aggressive bid.  Did the Kings really think they had a lot of competition, to the point of being compelled to offer $3 million per season?
Did they still have to spend some money to get up to the floor because I don't see the reason for the aggressive bid, especially in amount of years.

  I wonder how the bidding works. If one team bids 2 years $6M and another team bids 4 years $10M, do they go for  the most total money, or most money per year?

For Travis Outlaw circa 2008-09 absolutely.

For Travis Outlaw circa 2011, not really. Actually for what he did last year, its way too much.
