"CP3 Update: Source close to process tells ESPN that NOR talks w/GSW "definitely cooling" because of GSW refusal to put Steph Curry in deal" - Marc Stein

One down - Celtics v. Clippers.

I think this is how we will end up with CP3, GSW won't give up Steph Curry and the Clippers won't give up Jordan or Gordon. We are left with the only viable offer, which is why we should not give up two firsts in the deal since we'd be bidding against ourselves.
No we're not, we bid that when NOH was taking offers from all three teams. That was our bid, lowering it now isn't a good idea.

So what is our most current offer (supposedly)?

Last I read, it was Rondo, Moore, and Green.

If we're just competing against Jordan, Aminu, Bledsoe and a pick, I feel like we should have it.

If theres a way that we can get this done without using any of our picks, I'll be way more confident.

If we could somehow add a pick, and come away with Aaron Gray as well, I'd feel great about the whole thing.  Then we'd be switching Rondo for CP, and switching a backup wing for a backup Big that we desperately need.
I read something that the clippers wouldn't include Jordan either.

One rumor for the Celtics was Rondo, Green and two firsts the other was Rondo, Bradley, Moore and a first.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I would rather we trade picks than players.....we need to fill out this roster and without some of these players there is that many more holes to fill (as if we don't have enough in the first place!). It would be nice if we could get a sign and trade Aaron Gray out of the deal with a pick or something.

In regards to picks, Danny always has the option of buying a pick if he sees a player worth getting like he did with Phoenix and (dare I say) Rondo.

Agreed.

Last thing the Celtics should do is pull the offer down because then some other team waiting in the weeds attack and the Celtics are left back where they started.

If this actually happened for Rondo, bradley, moore, and a pick...I'd be amazed. I'd give Danny a lot of credit then.  Draft picks arent guarantees, so I can live with giving 1 up if it meant keeping Green.  Moore and Bradley are nothing to me.  I'd basically see that as Rondo for CP3...with the added benefit of Bradleys spot on the roster to bring in a cheap big body (Kenyon Martin pro rated from March sounds about right)

I'm not as big a CP3 over Rondo guy as some, but if Danny could land him for that package it wouldn't even be that bad a deal if Paul left after this coming season.  It would basically be sacrificing a first round pick for a somewhat better chance at winning a title this season and even more salary flexibility for rebuilding after that.

I am still thinking that we are going to end up on the bad end of this. If and when Chris Paul leaves Boston we are left with just Paul Pierce and JaJuan Johnson and no draft picks. I hope that one of the 1st round picks isn't the Clippers pick we got cause that will most likely be a Top 10 maybe even higher. I am all for "renting" Paul and leaving it up to him whether or not he wants to be back but not worth giving up the future. You're going to go into 2012 free agency without CP3 as a draw for other stars and a guarantee that Howard won't come here... (he wants a big and warm market). Paul Pierce and JaJuan aren't going to draw any big names.

Last I heard the deal was Rondo, Bradley, Moore, and Green and one or two 1st round picks for Paul. Might be outdated on  the info but that is what I heard. This is a huge gamble and if it backfires Ainge is going to be scrambling next off season.

I think a lot of us fans are looking at all the pieces we are offering and giving up, but we are missing the big picture....

What we should really be focusing on isn't CP3 or giving up Rondo.

What we should be focusing on is Banner #18, Banner #19, Banner #20.

What gets us a better shot at those?

I think making the trade for CP3 gives us the better shot.

agreed but if we miss this year on Banner 18 then the chances of us obtaining it becomes a dream versus a reality. We would need to get 18 this season cause I do believe Chris Paul won't resign with us. Then we're back to how the C's were in the early 2000's, which was working hard to become an 8 seed.

cp3 for Rondo now may = Banner 18, but without cp extending or draft picks it doesnt = anything beyond that

cp3+jjj+PP+draft picks+cap space = a solid future

If CP3 stay the draft picks will be in the late 20s hopefully.

So then the loss isn't great, the danger is if he leaves and we really need them as they are lottery picks. Hence they should be protected.
