Paul has indicated Clippers and Warriors could raise chances of keeping him long-term if they sign center Tyson Chandler too, sources say

anybody else really hate how Boston is completely left out of that statement.

Nope...not at all.  Even KG wasn't really warm to the idea of the Celtics from the start.

The Hornets organization is not what I'd call "top notch" and Paul doesn't really know what the Celtics are all about.  If he had a year to experience the atmosphere, along with the talk of being united with Howard, he might be willing to change his stance on re-signing.  I guess I'm a patient person and understand that sometimes these decisions don't happen as quickly as fretting fans would like...

KG had already played his entire career in a cold weather city and grew up in Chicago.  Not to mention he wouldnt come here until he knew he'd be playing with Pierce and Ray Allen.

Chris Paul grew up in a warm weather climate, went to a college in a warm weather climate, and RIGHT NOW is only showing love to NBA teams in a warm weather climate.  His excuse is that there is no future in Boston, but how much of a future is there in golden state, really??  but hes indicating he'd sign an extension if the circumstances were right.  Same with the clips and same with the lakers. CP doesnt care about playing with our big three bc hes already said he doesnt wanna be here.

the only cold weather city he wants to play in is New York, with his friends.  The only other friend of his we can acquire is D12, who just came out and said he doesnt like chicago bc it's too cold!!

and for all of you thinking this is all worth it bc we could win banner 18 next year with him, how do you know he's not gonna slack off the whole year here bc hes already decided where hes going to go the following year?? kind of like what Lebron was being accused of his last year in cleveland.

I'm a little late to the party here, but I'd really rather not trade for Chris Paul.  I'm not necessarily opposed to dealing Rondo if the deal is right, but I don't trust CP3's knees at all.  I'd actually be more interested in a one-year rental than I would a long-term commitment - less chance of the knees giving out - but in that case I wouldn't be willing to give up Rondo.

Just my take.
Same here. After hearing more about CP3's knees, I think the risk is too high.

I'd rather roll with Rondo.

Maybe it's not all about the weather, as your post seems to presume?  Chris Paul doesn't owe us an explanation as to what he's thinking or why he wouldn't sign an extension with Boston.  Who knows what's going on between his ears, but I wouldn't put this all on the New England winter climate...

So, Chris Paul wants to play with Tyson Chandler... any chance that Tyson feels the same way?

Meaning, if we were to pull off a trade for CP, anybody think theres a chance that Tyson signs on with Boston for the full (multi-year) MLE?  I personally think it's doubtful, but he has made a bit of money so far so I wouldn't find it utterly impossible.  What are your thoughts?

e.g. Boston trades away: Rondo, Green, Bradley, Johnson, JO, 2 firsts
Boston gets back: CP, Ariza

We'd be out of the Dwight sweepstakes (possibly a pipedream anyways), but this could open up our window more than just 1 season if CP resigns with us.

I think CPs hesitancy with the celtics is as mostly about uncertainty regarding our future roster.  He's in a situation now where he can choose (to an extent) where he goes.  Choosing to go to a team with an aging core whose window has been "closing" the past couple years probably isnt that attractive.  Cap space is great, but how many times have teams blown their cap space and barely improved?  Theres no guarantees with cap space.  All he knows is kg is probably leaving, ray is probably leaving, JO is done, and pierce is going to be in his mid to late 30s.  That doesnt sound that attractive if your goal is to compete with Miami.

Plus, players talk all the time about wanting to play in warm weather cities.  With Golden state on the list of places he'd consider signing, I think weathers impact is hard to discount.

That said...I'm not fully supporting the trade anymore.  I imagined the deal being something like Rondo, a 1st rounder, and maybe a 2nd rounder.  I could support that.  Rondo + green is already a bit steep for me.  Rondo + green+ multiple picks is absolutely too much....and thats assuming we would definitely sign the extension.  Without a guaranteed extension, this deal (or any) involving Rondo should be a no go.

Okay, I think everybody seems to be forgetting that

WE HAVE NOT HEARD CHRIS PAUL SAY ANYTHING.

For all the talk about how Paul has said he will never sign an extension here, or will sign elsewhere,

THIS IS ALL FROM SECONDARY SOURCES. Either anonymous or his agent.

Until Chris Paul himself says something, we cannot assume we know what he is thinking. If we are only hearing from the agent or other sources, we can't automatically assume it actually represents Paul's thoughts. This is, after, all, a business.

Rondo+Green + both first rounds picks to me seems to be very risky gamble on danny's part for what could be a 1year rental.

if he books it for NYC next summer, we instantly become a bottom of the barrell team with no draft picks to even build from.

danny will look like the biggest fool

then again, if he stays and we get Howard he looks like a genius

to me though, its too big of a risk

I think it's highly unlikely that something his agent said on record, would NOT represent what he feels.  I agree that anonymous sources are worthless, but I dont see any scenario, where his agent would say that he wouldnt sign an extension somewhere that he would.

And I absolutely think Rondo+green+2 picks is WAY too much of a gamble =/

A bottom of the barrel team, that probably has cap room for two max free agents, to play with Paul Pierce. They aren't by any means completely screwed here if this happens.

but what max free agents are going to want to come to Boston to play with a 36year old Paul Pierce and no one else? wed likely end up being cavs/raptors bad..

And I will take it a step further.  These guys can say all they want when free agency is a year away.  However, when they are staring an extra $20 to $40 million in the face by staying with the C's over the alternative, opinions can certainly change.

Yup... Or the way I like to look at it "Cleveland 2002 bad" or "San antonio 1996 bad" or "chicago bulls 2008 bad".
