I'd trade for him anyway.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I would take DWill over CP3 any day.  CP3 is an injury waiting to happen.  I will even go as far as to say he will miss double digit games this year.

Mark it down.

the last four seasons Williams has played in 291 games and Paul in 283 games. Not a whole lot different.

I was just watching sportscenter and they were talking about the Ron/paul trade, but at the end they said chris brousard reported that Paul wouldn't resign after the season. The legler came on and said this would be a rental for Boston to try and win one more championship with the big 3, but he wont resign because their roster will be old and empty after this year.

This sounds completely ridiculous to me. If paul came here and got to play under doc and compete for a championship this year huge cap space to sign talent to surround him with, why wouldn't he want to sign here. Most storied franchise in the league, gets to be the man in a bigger market.

I think Brousard is full of it and just talks out his ass...

No surprise here.  All along, he's basically indicated he wants to play in NYC, or a place like that.

Broussard is silly. Of course CP3 won't sign an extension with the C's - or anyone else. He'd lose too much money under the new CBA.

He's going to be traded and then either (1) sign a 5 year $100M Bird rights contract with that same team or (2) leave the team he's traded to and sign with another team for 4 years $74M. An extension would "only" be for 3 years $58M.

No way would he sign an extension and leave up to $42M on the table. Would be stupid. In fact, you'd almost have to be brain-dead as a GM to not "risk" trading for him without the extension. You'll be the only team that can offer that fat 5 year contract in 6 months. No way he's passing up $26M to sign with another team. Hardly a "risk," really.

Yup, like all the other marquee free agents.

Rebuilding if you aren't in a big market / warm weather city means trying to get lucky in the lottery, and hoping to hold onto your young stars after they finish their rookie contract.

TP , I didn't know all the details of the new CBA. So if the c's managed to land Paul it would be almost certain that they would be able to resign him, but if they signed him to a 5 yr/ 100 mil contract , would they still have money to add a max free agent in 2012?

They should, since it would be just about only PP left under contract at that point. And I believe they would have Bird rights to resign KG and Ray as well. That would pretty much be the perfect scenario.

We wouldn't have Bird rights to KG or Ray; we'd have to renounce them to get cap space in the first place.  We could then re-sign them with any remaining cap space, or sign them to minimum contracts.

Who is really bothered about Chris Paul when there is Deron Williams out ther to be had!

If you really wanted an upgrade at PG then you would trade Rondo for either a SG or a PF to replace both Allen + Garnett

Go after Williams instead. He's much better than Rondo man

Come on!

somewhere, Deron is crying, seems like people totally forgot about him lol

Wouldn't surprise me if he takes this kind of stuff personally and comes out playing with a fire lit under you know where this season.

If this lack of attention brings down his value, I say bring him in.  I'd be much happier with a future built around D-Will than Rondo.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
The idea behind it is that Paul wants to be on perennial contender. This team however is on its last legs as contenders. He's not going to sign an extension unless he gets traded to a team that's ready to contend from day one and able to keep contending for the next 4-5 years. It only makes sense to trade for him if you feel you have a really great shot at luring in Howard.

So the read between the lines part is:
Deron Williams wanted out of Utah so bad his attitude came into play and the best coach in the nba was fired to try and keep him happy

Chris Paul only wants to play where he wants to play/ a contender, ny knicks/ where the $ is

Rajon Rondo is our team mvp, plays hurt and can dominate games like only a few PLAYERS in the nba

I really dont like Chris Paul compared to Rondo.. Seriously.
I mean Rondo is a better passer, rebounder, defender compared to Paul.
The only thing Paul does better than Rondo right know is Shooting and Scoring the ball.
Paul is a better shooter. And i doubt Rondo will be as good as Paul because of his big hands, but scoring the ball.. Chris takes alot of shots night in and night out. Rondo rarely shoots the ball because he wants everybody involved. What happened last time Rondo shot the ball? In the 2009 Playoffs Rondo had ALOT of high scoring games.
Jack of all trades, master of none.

I hate admitting it, but Rondo can not score consistently like that anymore.
