I would prefer if it was Deron Williams as I think he is better than Paul

I wouldn't mind either, but if it was me then I would be giving some thought for Deron Williams

Deron Williams isn't on the trade block, though, and Paul is.

...but he may not be far away...http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/deron-williams-will-not-commit-to-long-stay-with-nets-110611

I take either DWill or Paul...both make us much more dangerous...

and as you allude to in an earlier post, Roy, both NO and NJ have the same incentive....get a substantial asset now in RR, a cheap, young talented pg and maybe BBD in a S&T, or perhaps nada later....

both teams would be foolish not to do it and Davis has mentioned both as preferred destinations with NO being "home"

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
It's laughable that the Hornets wouldn't trade Paul for Rondo.
Basically they are posturing and want Ainge to throw in more pieces like big baby or a Clippers pick.

It makes me wonder if they've sat down with Chris and asked him about what teams/deals he would possible sign an extension with.
If he's gonna be a punk and refuse to extend with anyone except NYC then I don't want him anyway. He doesn't seem like that kind of person though so we might have a shot.
If Ainge pulled this off I'd have a boner for a week.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

Read that last line again. One more time.

I'd rather get Brook Lopez from the Nets, big guys are harder to find.

yea, I think the Hornets want to squeeze more out of Ainge, and I would be fine with throwing Davis into the deal. I would hope that the Hornets have talked to Paul about playing in boston before going too far with negotiations with the celtics, but you never know I guess.

#3 is retired bro

Paul would sick in 4 or 7 IMO

Paul #7 sounds real smooth man. I would defo be gettin a Paul jersey if that happened

Call me heartless, but CP9 works, as well.

30 isn't retired.  (Most recently worn by Sheed and Troy Murphy.)  Cee-pee-three-oh.  Getting traded for R2.  How do people not instantly think of that one little swap of characters?

I think that Chris Paul is well aware of the rumors by now and N.O. doesn't really need to talk to him. They may need to convince him, though, if they are to get anything in return for him.

I'm sure Paul knows about the negotiations, I would just hope that the Hornets don't waster Danny's time trying to negotiate a deal with a guy who doesn't want to be traded to us.

Its probably already been mentioned, but the tough part about this is that Paul can only sign a 2 year extension for 6 months after being traded.  So, if Danny (or anyone else) is expecting Paul to agree to an extension before the trade, its probably not going to happen.

I'd put the chips all in and make the trade w/o the extension in place.

Hornets gotta move Ariza in this deal though, right?

It will be interesting.  I think without an extension, they might have a harder time trying to get teams to take on a guy like Ariza or Okafor.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.

I think they could probably trade Okafor relatively easily if they wanted. Something small like a cap dump and a first, but surely there's a market for Okafor.

I'm over the CP3 for Rondo rumors. I was over it a year ago.

Honestly, I just don't see Boston being a realistic landing spot for CP3. I think he wants NY or LA - both LA teams have pieces that could work in a trade. The Lakers could offer Bynum (a core of CP3 + Kobe + Pau would be potent), the Clippers could off one of their young guys (Blake + CP3? That's not fair).

Honestly, I think we need to explore other options at the 2 guard spot. I love Ray Allen as much as anyone, but let him ride off into the Memphis sunset to help the young Grizzlies in exchange OJ Mayo - it's a pipe dream, I know. But I for one am really excited to see the Rondo era begin. A lot of fans seem to think he'll be "exposed" without the Big 3, but we won't really know until it happens and I think the young fella has shown me enough that I'm dying to find out.
