But according to numerous sources with knowledge of the situation, Boston general manager Danny Ainge is highly motivated to land an even better point guard than the one who led the Celtics to a championship in 2008 and an average of 58.5 wins in the last four seasons: New Orleans' Chris Paul.

Ainge, the sources say, has recently discussed trading Rondo in a deal that nets Paul, but the Hornets don't appear interested in a two-team deal in which Rondo -- who has four years worth approximately $46 million left on his contract -- and Paul would switch places. So Ainge has been on the prowl for a third team that could provide the sort of young pieces Hornets general manager Dell Demps would covet as part of his possible rebuilding plan. The more pressing question, of course, is whether Paul, who can become a free agent after this season, would consider signing an extension with Boston.

WOW!!!!

Lol feel free to send some TPs for this one. JK of course!

I would prefer if it was Deron Williams as I think he is better than Paul

I wouldn't mind either, but if it was me then I would be giving some thought for Deron Williams

Seriously?  The Hornets want better young players than Rondo?

This is a 25 year old kid signed to a reasonable contract, who already has a championship ring and is a two-time all-star.

But hey, Hornets, feel free to turn it down, so that you can end up with a trade exception when Paul bolts town.

Deron Williams isn't on the trade block, though, and Paul is.

They want more then Rondo and you can't blame them at the moment. Oh man though.... CP3 with the Big 3?! We could win this year and then have arguably the best Dwight Howard recruiter in the world on our side.

It also says in the article

"If Paul doesnt sign an extension in Boston then Danny will most defintely not do this deal"

Paul wants New York, He's like Melo, he wont go anywere else except NY, and if he leaves New Orleans nxt season as a Free Agent then he will most defintley go to NY

I dont want him to trade Rondo personally. I think Rondo is our main man. Trade Paul Pierce, Ray Allen or KG before Rondo.

Get the old guys out before Rondo. Come on man, whats Danny thinking here?

Paul is the only person I would want the Celtics to trade for Rondo. Mostly because Howard is just unrealistic, and Paul is better than Deron in every aspect. Make it happen!

I think a westbrook, paul rondo 3 way trade makes total sense

Rondo teams up with his best friend Perk and Durant becomes the man ( not that he isn't already) , but westbrook took away a lot of shots from druant

New Orleans gets an explosive scorer at the pg spot to replace Paul

C's get paul to complement PP,Ray and KG better than rondo does and is atractive to Dwight.

of course other pieces would need to be involved to make salaries work , but would make a lot of sense of all involved

I guess I'll be curious to see what they come up with, because I can't imagine any offer better than Rondo.

Maybe a 3-way with Cleveland?  They've seen first hand what he can do in the playoffs.  Ship off Kyrie Irving to New Orleans, figure out somehow to get Varejao in Boston for JO's expiring contract...

Maybe but it seems like Paul really cares more about winning then anything else. Boston isn't a small market and he could be a champion by the end of the year if this goes down. He would still have Pierce for a couple of years and many FA would want to play with him like (cough) D12. Seriously though a lot of cap space next year, Paul Pierce, and the chance to win right now might entice him enough to commit.

Wonder if DA has told them he would add the Clipper's pick.... I could see him holding off on adding that for now. He should have leverage since CP3 like you mentioned above will be as good as gone.

I would think that Clips pick could be enough to get a deal done if the Clippers get off to a good start.
