I think Rondo is open to criticism like anyone else, but I'm not sure why people accept the media's persona for him as "him". I only judge him by his on-court performance, savvy and what his critical teammates think. And, slap me silly, but when three hall of famers call Rondo the future and he shows us what he has (amid nagging injuries and skepticism), I believe it. And if you're going on those terms and not calling him the best current point guard in the league or the best player in the league, then how is that overrated?
I'd rather not see him traded despite the potential of Chris Paul providing what he does which is more dynamic offense. Even on a purely future-focused scenario I'm not sure Rondo wouldn't be the better shot. I have to go with the occasional nagging injury and furrow of his brow over Paul's knees. Part logic, part sentimentality. There would have to be a guarantee of Howard to make it feel sensible.
