So to respond to several different threads....yes I watched the SNL skit. In typical SNL fashion it wasn't funny. Yes Jesus was a down to Earth character. He also came off as condecending and they portrayed Tebow as clueless, which is odd because he won the Heisman for academics as well. Jesus also stated there were limits on God's power like "You gotta meet me half way. I mean the Patriots? I'm not sure even God can help ya with that one! I mean Brady is my cousin. You're screwed you untalented dork. Good luck"
Do you think they'll do a skit this week where Jesus shows up and tells Tebow he did awesome? "That's what I'm talkin bout Tim! Me and Skip Bayless knew you could do it! Screw that **** bag Rothlisloser!" Yeah right. Not gonna happen.
Tebow doesn't shove his faith in anyone's face. He genuflects when he wants to. He points to the sky. He says thank you to God. In college he put eye black with Bible verses on his face. And he puts a Bible verse on his facebook weekly. He also practices what he preaches. He isn't half as in your face as a player who gets a "get paid" tatoo and then goes in a stop snitching video. He doesn't put himself in my face half as much as a typical Peyton Manning year of advertisements. He doesn't put himself in people's face half as much as a typical week in the life of Muhammed Ali's boxing career. Yes Ali. I get it. You're the greatest. Heard you the first time. He's not as in your face as Rex Ryan either. He's practicing what he does. Also I see how doing the pro-life ad could bother people. But I'm not seeing how the organization is bigoted unless you say it is because it actively lobbies against gay marriage. Gotta remember the doctors told his mom to abort him. If you were supposed to be aborted and your mom prayed to Jesus and then you were born and won a Heisman and went to the NFL you might actually be thankful to Jesus too. In a manner of speaking Jesus really is his savior, because for Tebow if his mom had listened to the doctors instead of Jesus he wouldn't be here, hence he really was saved by Jesus, so naturally we should ridicule him on SNL.
Also let's not kid ourselves. If there was a kid actively praising Allah and Muhammed or Yahweh SNL would never have the guts to do a comparable skit. Never.
I'm guessing Tim Tebow has a way better sense of humor about the SNL jokes about him than you do here eja. It really seems like you're outraged at the perceived hypocrisy (I don't think there is hypocrisy here, but I see that you do) way more than you are offended by the actual joke, and that rings a bit hollow to me here.
I'm not overly offended by the joke. SNL just isn't funny. Funniness on SNL for a while now is a little like Haley's Comet. It's not coming back for a long time so everyone stare cause it's kinda special. I couldn't expect the skit to be funny and it wasn't. But I admit the double standard bothers me. I think Tebow can laugh at himself (well who can blame him? He gets to laugh at his critics all the time) and is the first to agree that he needs to improve, so seeing Jesus as a guy who is telling him to improve probably doesn't bother Tebow a lot.
It's the double standards that bother me.
Here's another double standard that bothers me. Kyle Orton and I think Brady Quinn fined Tebow every week for not speaking out against that big billboard that was urging the team to start him. Aparently they thought it was Tebow's job to tell fans not to express their opinion. See to me Tebow should have fined Kyle Orton for being a loser.

Ah, I see. Well, I can understand why you feel that way, especially about Islamic culture (as for the accusations about the jewish hypothetical, I think that you're way wrong there, and I'm pretty sure I can back that one up), and FTR, I do agree; SNL often is just plain not funny. If Kristen Wiig and Jason Sudekis are in the skit, it's got a shot (i enjoyed the tebow sketch), but just about every time I see keenan or
this guy I know there is about a 70% chance that the sketch is going to be awful.
Bill Hader, Sudekis, Wiig, and Taran Killiam have all grown on me though.
