So let's say hypothetically they reach an agreement...tomorrow. It will take a week to finalize the CBA and then free agency starts.

What do you say, about a two week free agency period and camps open up November 17th with the season starting Dec 1st or 2nd. Does that sound right? Or do you think they try to get up and running for the Thanksgiving long weekend?

Thanksgiving is almost synonymous with Football. I don't see why they'd try targeting that weekend.

Yeah, I think they would just shoot for December 1st.  They love Thursday games, and they can set up an opening night triple header or something that night.

Makes sense, give the holiday weekend for people to discuss. ESPN can hype things up Mon-Thurs.

Those are the games that are scheduled for Dec 1st. If they start then those are the only games scheduled and both are on TNT.

Maybe just add an LA/Mavs game or something, and they are good to go.

Those are the games that are scheduled for Dec 1st. If they start then those are the only games scheduled and both are on TNT.

I meant to infer that's pretty much my dream opening night.

One source briefed on the talks Wednesday said agreement by the end of the week "very possible." "Lot of real progress tonight," source said.

New York Times' Howard Beck:

Just filed update to lockout story. Told that sides have "moved closer" on "most" system issues, but no agreement yet.

Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski:

NBA, NBPA sources still believe if they can close gaps and agree on system issues - tax, exceptions, etc., - BRI will fall into place.

Just had an NBA team player rep text me although a deal isn't imminent yet, there's "lots of optimism" something can get done.

Even Bill Simmons weighing in:

82-game NBA reg season + full playoffs still in play. Need done deal by weekend. Lots of optimism now. I'd be surprised if this fell apart.

Hmmm glad things are looking up but I thought a partial season might benefit the Celtics more. That's assuming they don't dramatically increase the nights that are back to back and there were no parts of the schedules with three games in three nights.
