Off the top of my head - a few things I'm surprised weren't picked:

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
Bruce Springsteen
Simpsons Arcade Game
Southern Comfort
Karaoke

And while they're limited, for some reason I thought for sure someone would take:

Mumford & Sons
Vampire Weekend

A Great Pick That I was really hoping someone would take:
The Flaming Lips

I absolutely love karaoke.

Luckily that there's been a few places around my parts that are kinda intentionally hole-in-the-wall-y and they kinda build their bar around everyone getting way too into karaoke.

Karaoke is really chancy...like "open mike".  You might end up with someone like me hogging the stage.  (I did not say me, I said someone "like" me!)  >:(

Southern Comfort falls under the whiskey category doesn't it?

Hate to say it, (as I'm a "live band" musician, who hates competing with it), but karaoke is extremely popular ... and as popular as it is in the US, Asians are just CRAZY about it. In the Philippines it is by far the biggest/most poular form of entertainment, and people have karaoke parties in their homes all the time, (videoke, to be more accurate), and the clubs are everywhere in the cities. It is truly a phenomenon in Asia.

Here's my look at it: I really, really love good live music. But it can be a real mixed bag. For as many good bands I'll see, I'll see 25 bad cover bands playing the same 14 songs from the American Pie soundtrack.

I go to karaoke like once every two months, and while I'm not going to be blown away by any means - I'm pretty much insured I'll have a fun time.

I don't get that same guarantee when I see a band play "Pour Some Sugar On Me"

I used to love the "open mike" nights...even got up there, guitar in hand,  and bored the other customers.  Now I just stay in the audience and harmonizing  away at the top of my lungs, making people say "get that crazy drunk lady out of here"...when I haven't been drinking!  (I am probably the only one in the room having fun...except my friends, who have new ammunition to use against me...)

People are generally just moved to tears by my very dramatic take on "Purple Rain." I take them on an emotional journey through important moments in their life they had never truly embraced

hahaha as starter of this I have to clearify, my wife loves karaoke, we have karaoke at home, and from time to time (when drunk enough) the universe have the delight of hearing me singing.

And when i say we have karaoke we have a pro one, not home made stuff, of fixed dvds i mean, big screen with inalambric mics, and original Karake dvds in massive quantities :() now i am ashamed of myself-lol
Thank god that doesnt happen often,

I am also stranged Nobody picks Metallica and some Wisky ina Jarrrooo
