  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Should we consider putting an asterisk on the Celtics banner while we're at it?
Naw the Celtics gave up *some* value.  :P

This year is a prime example of why we need vetoes in this game.

It was reinstated half way through, and I know of at least one trade that didn't go through.

The veto process didn't seem to go public, despite some questionable trades after.
It was reinstated after several trades more egregious than the one that finally convinced IP that he had to do something.

I wish he'd done so earlier.

IP does too. IP thought the kids could just play in the sandbox and not commit consciously uneven trades. IP was wrong.

And, to Pawnee's credit, they were very cool about the whole process, and accommodating to the commish's office. They've got nothing to be ashamed of.

Well we in LA think the Conspiracy have a much more balanced squad than those teams in Oklahoma and San Antonio...
Balance doesn't always beat superstars, unfortunately.

This was my ballot.

If including my team (Phoenix Suns) in the rankings, I would have had them 3rd in the West.

Eastern Conference

Pacers
Sixers
Bullets
Bulls
Knicks
Nets
Pistons
Celtics
Bucks
Magic
Heat
Hawks

Western Conference

Kings
Blazers
Jazz
Nuggets
Warriors
Thunder
Spurs
Cavs
Grizzlies
Mavs
Lakers

Trust me, I had no illusions about my team being at the top of anyone's list, but how can a team with Carmelo Anthony, (one of the best pure scorers in the world), Brook Lopez, Devin Harris, JJ Hickson, and the high-scoring, incredibly fast, explosive, and athletic team-mates I have, end up tenth and eleventh in the Eastern Conference?!?  :o ???

Ouch.  Can I ask how the Pacers managed to beat Philadelphia?  They have a better defense, and Wade, West, and Iggy have more offensive firepower than Randolph, Parker, and Gay.

I think the Pacers did a great job of recreating one of my favorite teams, but the main reason why the Grizzlies were so good is because they lead the league in steals, forced turnovers, and points off of turnovers.  Without TA and Conley they lose those bonus possessions, which we all know is a huge advantage.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I am concerned about David West's injury. A 31 year old coming off an ACL injury who relies on his mobility (pick and roll game) and explosiveness / agility in one-on-one moves (post game) ... worries me.

Consequently, I ranked David West and your team as a whole lower than I would otherwise.

It was enough of a difference maker in my eyes to slide Indy into first place.

You're leaving out that our 4th offensive option (Gasol) is way better than your 4th (not sure who).  Teams go a lot deeper than 3 offensive options.  At least good ones do (ask Dallas)

Gasol isn't really that much better than Hinrich.  Wade is way better that your 1st option though (not sure who).

The good teams have a clear high-caliber go-to scorer (ask Dirk).

Gasol is a much better scoring option than Hinrich and after this year's playoffs can anyone not call ZBo a go to scorer?  Sidenote: Is it bad that I'm more excited for the Grizzlies prospects this season than I am the Celtics?

I think Randolph will eat David West alive post injury... That man is a monster down there. I think Marc is being underrated too. He took it to Duncan in the playoffs. They also have a top 10 pg and a very versatile scoring athlete on the perimeter.

Why 10th, please? Have you read my presser? Do you know how good a shooting team we are? How fast and explosive this team is? This team is going to shoot and fast-break opponents off the court, with Carmelo Anthony at the core, and they're tenth?!?

Sorry, I just don't get these rankings ... it's clear that many people made up their minds even before some of us even got the chance to answer questions, in fact most people didn't even ask questions, or read my Presser.

If they had, they'd have a much different view, because this team is a high-scoring, fast-breaking, explosive, athletic, and energetic team, with great chemistry, no overly-big egos, and an unselfish approach to sharing the ball.

This is not just aimed at you, SO, but after three tens-or-worse, I am completely befuddled.  ???

I'll admit that I really dislike Tyreke Evans. I think he's always going to be the best player on the worst team.

Outside of that, I don't like Brand and Love as a defensive front court. Undersized, and relatively slow.

I know you're deep, but those are two things I don't think you can really get over.
