This trade was a huge win for you in terms of value. Now you just need to move some pieces around for better fits without losing value in the process and you're team will be very much improved.
I would very much like this team if they had a better SF and not a frontcourt of West and Horford. Too redundant. I'm not and never have been sold on Horford as a true center. I think he would be around the 6th-8th best PF in this league though (which is a position stacked with strong talent). I'd like to see you trade West for a legit center and maybe pick up a starting SF somehow. Then, I will probably love this team.
Our team is not without flaws... but West and Horford redundant? Horford not a legit center??
West is a jump shooting PF (72% of his shots were jump shots) while Horford takes nearly 1/2 his shots inside the paint. This is the exact reason I took West b/c offensively he complemented Horford's game.
Your wording was a little fishy there, but courtesy of 82games.com: 74% of West's fga were jumpshots and 67% of Horford's were jumpshots. Pretty close. And while I do think Horford has shown to be a better rebounder, I'd be weary to consider stats impartial. West, at PF, has to defend opponents further from the hoop and also has a much better rebounding teammate in the frontcourt than Horford does. I still think they are pretty similar players.
While Horford is a more effective player against C's than PF's (23 PER/48 vs. 19 PER/48), he also gives up more production against centers than he does to PFs (17 PER/48 vs. 13 PER/48). That is VERY telling IMO. He gives up more production to centers than he does to PFs??? Center is a wayyyy weaker position in the NBA than PF! Also, while playing almost twice as minutes at C as he did at PF, he still managed a +/- of +35 on the season at PF, while only a +11 on the season at C. This tells me that he is a much better fit at PF.

easy to say we might be the Hornets, but Horford >>> Okafor
Horford 15/9/3 + 1 blk +.8 stl
Okafor 10/9/.6 + 2 blk +.6 stl
Okafor is a slightly better defender, but is one dimensional & very inefficient offensively. Horford on the other had averages more assists than any other other big behind Blake Griffin and is among the most efficient big men in the League.
I'm not arguing with you that Horford >>> Okafor overall; that is true. I said you'd risk looking like the Hornets if you traded one of Horford/West for a true center and didn't get back a player unquestionably better than Okafor.
My problem is I don't think Horford is a true center. So at the center position, I think it becomes now more like Horford > Okafor. The reason why is because Horford has a PER/48 advantage of 5.7 against centers, and Okafor has a PER/48 advantage of 2.9 against centers. Not a ridiculous difference.
