I like Boris Diaw as a player, but not on this team. I think you needed another defender behind Milsap.

PG: Cp3, Jennings
SG: JRich, Roy /Webster
SF: Magette, Dunlevey /Webster
PF: Bass, Beasley (6th man)
C: Mcgee, Birdman

Decided to push Beasley to 6th man for more scoring off the bench (and so he doesn't get winded by the end of the game). Also I know some people like the Webster pick but I just happened to need a bench 2/3 option more then anything else.

Anyone willing to part with a bench 4/5 PM with offers. I still have 10.8, 11.17, 13.17.

I kind of miss being the team everyone hates now that I got a few compliments. O well, nicknames never really die  :)
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Got a rotation now so I'll finally post my team.

Hinrich/Douglas
Wade/Douglas
Iguodala/Hedo
K-Mart/Hedo/Lopez
Varejao/Lopez

Not sure where I'm going with my next pick yet.  Probably either a shooting PG or larger wing defender next to Toney Douglas.  That or a scoring forward.

How highly I regard this team will depend a lot on how you intend to use Hedo Turkoglu.

I am looking forward to hearing about that after you have finalized your roster and decided how best to utilize him.

Very excited about what Hedo Turkoglu can bring to the table on this roster.

The Army Ants solidify defense in the 2nd unit as they select

TERRENCE WILLIAMS
A very good backup PG for Rondo. Maybe. Probably. Possibly.

I'd love to see T-Will get a long look at the PG position. He seems very interesting there.

He's a good passer but I'll have him backing up Caron when Marcus Thornton is on the floor as Thornton gives up effort to play D but not very much known for it.

That way with Caron and DeShawn and Marcus-T-Will, there's a balance of offense and defense in the wing.

I don't like T-Williams as a small forward.

He doesn't have the size for it. He is a below average defender at that position. Doesn't play well against guys who are bigger than him.

Plug him in at either of the guard spots (PG or SG) and he is an effective defensive player.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
OKC!

pg. mo williams
sg. kobe bryant/shannon brown
sf. carmelo anthony
pf. rashard lewis/ jj hickson
c.  demarcus cousins/jermaine o'neal

Pros:

1) Kobe Bryant's will to win should be bigger than his will to assert his dominance on his own team. That means there is a decent chance he'd look at this layout as an opportunity to take his game to a new level, rather than a challenge that he cannot do what he used to do anymore (which was his problem last year IMO).

2) Two of your primary role players (Mo Williams, Rashard Lewis) should both be physically and mentally capable of playing the roles you're assigning them, and that in and of its self is a win. They'll both be asked to do relatively little, and do it well.

Cons:

1) 4 guys in the starting lineup that look to shoot more than they look to get the ball in position for the right shot

2) Defensively Kobe is the only elite guy you have out there, and you should be outclassed by most front courts out there

3) With only one ball, one of Kobe or Melo are going to drastically decrease their FGA's, or the rest of the team is going to have to go hungry. The latter is probably the more likely one, and when Miami tried the same tactics, they failed.

Again, like I said he's far from an ideal 3rd guy so I really don't value him that highly, but I don't value Harden that highly either.  Are you thinking about him if he reaches his potential?
As a starter, I think Harden is a 16-17ppg threat with very good rebounding and playmaking ability and average defense. A very efficient scorer and overall offensive player who is a major threat both off the dribble (out of the pick and roll) and with his set jump shot (great range). Very easy to play with. Complements ball-dominant stars very well and creates shots for role players.

Rebounding and playmaking?  In 28 mpg after the all-star break, he averaged 2.8 and 2.4 rebounds and assists per game.  I agree with the offense and the shooting threat, but I have always thought of Harden as a pretty one-dimensional player as a scorer.  (But better than most one-dimensional players in the sense that he's not necessarily a liability in other aspects, just very average to slightly below average)

Do you think Ray Allen is a one-dimensional player?

Absolutely I do.  Luckily for him, he is the best ever in the history of the sport of basketball at that one-dimension, so he's had a very successful career.
How so?  Have you never seen how good Ray at putting the ball on the floor and driving to the hole?  That's the difference between Ray Allen and Reggie Miller.

Not even taking into consideration his passing and defense.

He is "pretty good" at driving to the hole.  He scored 11.4 ppg on jump shots and 2.6 ppg on "close" shots and dunks last season, so he's obviously not doing it too often. http://www.82games.com/1011/10BOS7.HTM

His passing?  Very OK for a guard, I find it absolutely nothing to write home about.  2.7 assists per game (as a guard) on a team that is very unselfish by nature doesn't impress me.  His defense I find to be a product of the system he plays in.  He was widely regarded as a bad (if not terrible) defender when he was a Sonic.

But he is better at putting a ball in a 10 foot high hoop from distances far away than any other man who has ever walked the earth.  That's what makes him great.

Hard to knock your starters except the lack of any D from 2-4 but I don't know about that bench. lacks a real scorer for a 2nd unit and no toughness. Any isn't Gomes a SF?

Worried about Chandler's ability to stay on the floor? He's tied for 15th among qualified centers for fouls per 48 minutes. If he's gotta cover to Millsap and Diaw all game, that number might jump a bit.

Thoughts on my team as a whole (check Sig below)? We don't really want to discuss the guy we lost but are more concerned with who is currently on our team.
Quote from: Evantime34
Detroit Pistons:
1. John Wall/Lou Williams
2. DeMar DeRozan/Tony Allen/
3. Jeff Green/Jared Dudley/Anthony Parker
4. Josh Smith/Tyler Hansbrough
5. Emeka Okafor/Greg Oden/Jeff Foster
Next picks: 10.14

I am just going to focus on one thing for a moment ...

I don't like DeRozan as a starter. I think he has a long way to go before he is useful NBA player. Over his first two years, I think he has been one of the worst defenders in the league at his position (despite his athleticism), a poor rebounder, an awful passer + his scoring stats are inflated from playing on a lousy Raptors team last year that had no credible go-to scorer.

Overall, I think DeRozan takes more of the table than he provides.

I would like to see you start someone else at shooting guard until DeRozan proves himself worthy of the minutes. Jared Dudley and Jeff Green are both out and out SFs so I would go with TA.

I like Anthony Parker on this team. Good ball-handler and passer. He'd be a nice complement to Lou Will while J.Wall is resting. In terms of ability, or at least based on last year's performance, I think he'd give DeRozan a strong challenge for those backup SG minutes.

I think that is a nice team. Got a lot of established quality on the defensive end of the floor but a lot of works in progress on the offensive end.

I reckon it would be somewhat like the Charlotte Bobcats squad from a year ago when the made the playoffs. Really good defensively but struggles quite a bit offensively.

Of course, with several young players and especially John Wall, that (immediate) outlook could change considerably based on how big a leap several of your guys are able to make next season.

And if Oden is healthy, it's obviously a game-changer.
