With 6.9 Utah Jazz select Brandon Jennings

Interesting.

So who starts at SG, Jennings or Young?

And is that strong enough defensively with Kobe and Johnson both in your division?

Young. His shooting and slashing will complement Pierce and Gasol more in the starting lineup. Once Washington jettisoned "Bad Knee Gun Man" he got touches and avergaed 17 ppg a game. Also that negative influence was bad for him. There will be none of that in Utah.

I agree with the offensive part.  No question he is a good NBA scorer and shooter.

My question is the rest of his game.  He has shown no interest what so ever to play defense.

That's why I see him as a great option as a shooter off the bench, but not as a starter.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
NY Knicks select rebounding machine DeJuan Blair

Maybe a little early for him...or at least other more talented PF's still out there.

I can think of one especially that should have been picked a while ago that isn't much younger.

I considered him IP, but Blair's a bulldog and a proven starter on a quality team.... more than i can say for _____ _____ and _____ _____.

Yeah, while I don't think he's the BPA at the 4, he's useful, and will probably be more consistent off the bench.

San Antonio selects the future CB 2011/2012 6th man of the year,
Vince Carter

Kobe
Blatche
Carter.

I will have a hard time voting for a team where I dislike so many players.   ;)

In Flip Saunders system he wasn't really asked too. Nor did his teammates demand it of him. Larry Brown and the Jazz will. With his length and athleticism I just want him to play good TEAM defense. It takes team defense to play against the great scorers. I wont ask him to shut them down alone on D, but I will ask him to make them work on the other end of the court. He reminds me a lot of Kevin Martin a couple years ago in Sacramento the year Bibby was traded to the Hawks.

He is one of those players I would have to see it before I believe it.

Still a good pick.  Just not a fan of the starting role.

Word.

IP, I'd love to hear you try to argue that Jennings is the second best defensive PG in the game again.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I understand, but Ray Allen got a ton of criticism for his defense when we acquired him. He plays the team defense well. I want Young to play a role similar to Rip Hamilton in 2004 vs LA for Detroit. He is not as good as Rip then, I know this, but his skill set can allow him to play that role.
