Amar'e has had a lot of success at the 5 with worse running mates than Williams.

A lot of individual success, sure.
Huh?

Playoffs 6 out of 8 years, two WCF runs, and helping push a disaster of Knicks team to a .500 club isn't team success?

Which of his front court mates are a worse compliment than Derrick Williams defensively?

I'd say Gallinari (PF) is about equal to what I'd expect D.Williams to be as a rookie PF.

Also I wasn't speaking of just defense but also offensive ability, the total package.

Yeah, whenever you guys are ready to do the adoration of my team, i'm ready.

Lowry/?/Derek Williams/Amar'e Stoudemire/Andrew Bogut

I'd like your team more with a true 3 and Williams coming off the bench as a super-sub 3/4. Great core though, plenty of time to address things as the draft goes on.

But that's just one little bear's opinion.

I also think Williams would be best suited as a 6th man 3/4 playing 30 min per game (15 or so with the starters, and 15 or so at the 4 while Amare moves to the 5 when Bogut sits).

I hope you bring your elbow pads, knee pads, and helmets for when Pawnee comes into town and whichever of the 2 you roll out at PF has to guard Z-Bo (or Gasol).
What does it matter if he starts if he's getting 30 minutes a game?

Well if he starts, its obviously at the 3 considering Amare and Bogut in place already.  So its for two reasons:  1.  Can he guard any starting 3's in the NBA?  I'd rather bring him off the bench to guard and be able to score on backup 3's and 4's.  and 2. To provide a scoring punch off the bench.  Kind of like how Jet and Manu (used to) play 30+ mpg off the bench to bring that scoring punch.

The bench scorer punch is definitely a consideration, but I don't think his defense of NBA 3s will be a problem.

At least not to the point of wanting to hide him from starting NBA SFs in a bench role.

C'mon Faf, you can't drop a bunch of Suns achievements and then site Knicks players in this debate.

(LeBron)Passing to himself but no the others

Ummmm....what?

LeBron is a better passer than most of the point guards people currently have on their teams and one of the best passers in the entire league.

His 7 assists per game is more than currently drafted PGs Stephen Curry, Jrue Holiday, Kyle Lowry, Tony Parker, Jameer Nelson, Chauncey Billups, Darren Collison, Ty Lawson, and almost every PG NOT currently drafted.

Lebron has a lot to be criticized for after his Finals appearance(though I think we can all admit that until the Finals, LBJ was playing superb playoff basketball) and his last off season but his passing is one area I think is the wrong place to make an argument against him.

Come on you've moved the goal posts from team success (way to drop that point like a stone) to just defense.

Also _________ plays for the Suns. Not to mention its hard to give much evidence about Amar'e without bringing in his Suns years because he played there for 7 of his 8 years.

Preach!

I'd say hands down best frontcourt in the league, and with Williams on board now, and Amar'e's ability to switch over (he was a 2nd team All-NBA center last year, NBD.), the versatility we have with the bigs is currently unmatched.

I'm not gonna waste your time selling Lowry right now. I'm not going to, because I will later. But I will.

Conversely, you're going to have a hard time convincing me that Amare Stoudemire and an undersized rookie could be a competent defensive front court.
They wouldn't be, but they'd dunk and get the line an awful lot. It'd be an offensive line up to be sure.

I think the two combined would be a net loss though. They'd be the team with all the highlights that lost by 12.

Then team success, then just defensively, all while ignoring the real life success Amar'e has in winning an awful lot of games at the 5.

Amar'e's teams certainly haven't lost by 12 if you look at his history at the 5, instead they've won an awful lot of games some of the time with worse defenders than what I view Williams would be.

And that was with the small ball being said teams primary line ups instead of a situational one.

If Amare Stoudemire's front court mate (at the 4 OR 5) isn't at least an adequate defender he's not winning games.

Which is why I like the Bogut pairing, and don't think the Williams thing would work.

He still has a pick due, yes? And the first pick in the next round?

Another potentially strong team.

Indeed. He'll likely take my guy too.
