Just so we are clear...no one on the Sacramento Kings is what can be described as old.....just saying.

But you could describe one as a self-destructive egomaniac who turtles when the stakes are high.
And you could describe one as clearly the best player in basketball.

Just to be clear: We're both talking about Wesley Matthews, right?
This got a very hearty laugh. TP

That doesn't look like the MVP.

can't find a vid with Caron playing D but I think everyone will agree he is solid in that end of the court.

But seriously that doesn't look like Chris Paul. I'm confused
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.

Eh...Caron doesn't have a great reputation on D. Hollinger is especially disdainful towards him:

Quote
+ Anticipates for steals but gives little defensive effort otherwise. Solid rebounder.

To say Butler is allergic to defense may be an understatement. The guy played 2,779 minutes last season and drew ONE offensive foul the entire time. That made Butler the league's single most charge-averse player last season, narrowly edging out Kenyon Martin and Rashard Lewis -- who also took just one offensive foul but played more minutes. Those two were power forwards, however; every other perimeter player who played at least 1,000 minutes drew at least three offensive fouls. Even Hedo Turkoglu.

Not the be all/end all for Butler, but his defensive effort has definitely waned over recent years.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

yeah but he has the effort to play D. That's all I needed. His offense is good, his defense is fine. He's not really good, but he ain't a liability.

Which of his front court mates are a worse compliment than Derrick Williams defensively?

I'd say Gallinari (PF) is about equal to what I'd expect D.Williams to be as a rookie PF.

Also, we're just assuming, automatically, that a guy who everyone agree ought to be an adequate defender at the 4, is going to be a complete sieve when playing the power forward.

Also, the Knicks' most efficient 5 man unit for the entire year was one that featured Gallinari at the 4, a guy who is likely to be worse both as a defender and rebounder than Williams.

On top of that, the notion that the Knicks pre-Melo were just 'flirting' with an 8th spot is patently wrong if the implication was that it was only WITH Melo that they got to the playoffs (and the 6th seed).

The 76ers have opened their ears to trades.

Willing to pair either Iggy or Wade with Kenyon or Varejao, or make a smaller deal.  I warn you though, my team is nasty so it's got to be a hell of an offer  ;D.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Bogut while not 100% still played but the Jennings and more importantly the Salmons injuries killed them. Basically he's not even the most important player on his team.

This is patently...PATENTLY wrong. Completely false. We will revisit, but ask anyone who watches Bucks games who their most important player is.

What Bogut (healthy) brings defensively is overshadowed only by Dwight Howard. On top of that he's one of the best passing big men, he doesn't try to 'do too much' on offense, so he's usually efficient, and he's a very good (but not elite) rebounder.

What Bogut brings isn't easily quantifiable by a stat line, but take a look at this on the court/off the court stats from 09/10.

He was the thing keeping that Milwaukee team competitive most of the time.
