With their second pick of the 2011 CelticsBlog Draft, the Miami Heat, (aka South Beach Samurai), select 7'0", 265-pound Center from San Joaquin Memorial High School ...

Brook Lopez

:)

Very nice pick.

B.Lopez struggled a bit last year but I think he'll recover nicely next year. Get his rebounding back up to where it used to be.

K.Love + B.Lopez is a very potent offensive combo. Two of the best jump-shooters at their respective positions. Highly skilled. Lopez has a nice post game and Love a developing one. Nice inside-outside big man duo.
I'm not so sure Lopez will bounce back, he also showed a shocking lack of will/effort to get post position this past year.

I worry about his mental development much more than his game. His rebounding and reduced efficiency are all tied to his drifting outside the paint.

With the 1st pick in the 2nd round of the 2011 CB Draft

The Denver Nuggets select Chris Bosh.

Very nice, Underrated now that he is with Lebron and wade.  Will work well with Joe Johnson I think
Yeah, I always wanted to see Toronto make a run at Joe Johnson to put alongside Bosh.

I think those two will make a very nice 1-2 punch.

Great pick. Last 2011 NBA All-Star?

I'm on board - 2009 CB Draft Houston Rockets. And back then I drafted Bosh 9th overall to no complaints. Joe Johnson 31st.

I think Brook is an emotional guy, both for good and for bad, and I don't think he enjoyed his time with Devin Harris. He seemed completely different when Deron Williams came to town.

And Marc Gasol's ascent from underrating to overrated is complete.

Thanks, I actually had him as the second best center overall.

I like him the least. Nice post-season push aside, he's become overrated. Posted career lows in points per game, rebounds per game and field goal percentage.

I wonder how much his summer illness (mono) effected him.

I have never had it but according to some people who have it saps your energy for months ... long after it goes away.

For a professional athlete, that sounds like a very difficult situation to overcome. Not being able to train in the summer. Being out of shape. And then dealing with that type of long lasting effect throughout the season.

I don't know. But I am waiting to see what he does next year before passing judgement. For now, I am hoping it was just the illness.

His splits don't show it, but I didn't watch them more than three or four times with Deron.

His FG% certainly went up, but playing with a PG like Deron will do that for you as a big man.

I don't know what to make of Marc Gasol.

I thought his play dropped off in the regular season from the previous season to last year. Then he followed it up with an excellent showing in the playoffs.

I have no idea what his true, or regular / expected, level of play is. Confused.

How come no one is talking about how Marc shot .430 from 3 this year?!

Andrew Bogut's agent and doctor called, they wanted to thank you for all the kind work you're doing overlooking how ridiculously injury prone he is. ;D

I've had it, it sucks and did effect me for about a month after I was "healthy". And I wasn't doing anything taxing my body at all under my doctor's orders.
