Chad Ford gives us an A- for our Purdue Two. I was thinking more of a B, but Ford seems to be really impressed with both our picks. I like these picks more and more every hour.

That seems like a reasonable grade to me.  For where they were picked I'd give 'em an A for Johnson and a B+ for Moore, but of course we'll see.

Id give it a B personally - I mean we didn't do anything outstanding but we made some solid selections for our position.

With that said, doing draft day grades is kinda ignorant, it's not like any of us know what kind of players these guys are going to turn into

What they did seemed solid and simple, and that's really all I want to see from Danny for a long time.

B+ for me.  It would be a B without the move that acquired the extra pick.  I'm sorry, but anytime you can move down in a draft, get the guy you wanted at a lower slot, and pick up an asset in the process you get a higher grade.  That pick they got from NJ could be moved in the future to acquire another player or pick, or trade exception.  Classic Danny - acquire as many assets as possible and go from there.

Over the next 3 drafts, the C's have 8 picks I believe.  That's a job well done for a GM with a 50-win team looking at decent cap space next offseason.

I'd expect Jersey to get better, but there's still a reasonable chance that they aren't a playoff team come 2014.  That 2nd rounder could easily be ~40 or so, which can still net you a decent prospect.  So yeah, good on Danny for grabbing a pick at zero cost.

I'm really happy with the draft, although I do kinda wish they did what Golden State did and take a flyer on Jeremy Tyler with a bought pick.  95% chance he's a bust, but a 5% chance he puts it together.  Probably not the ideal project for us because we need those roster spots, but that's a pretty low-risk wager by Golden State.

I wish we kept MarShon and traded for Johnson some other way. Would have been nice considering we took another combo guard in the second, anyway.

I think that is what it comes down to for Boston.  We have our starting lineup pretty much set.  These guys are older, so we have to prepare for injury and make sure we have a solid bench (which is why the vets that Boston signs this offseason to cheap/short contracts will be crucial to Boston's chances in the 11-12 season).  That leaves the deep bench.  There are only so many spots you can fill with developmental players on the deep bench...
Celtics fan for life.

I'm very happy with these picks.  Moore may never crack the rotation, but very few #55 picks do.  He has a chance though, as he is an intelligent and mature 4-year college grad.  If anything, he'll hustle and push guys in practice, making the entire team better.  Experience means a lot.

Experience + talent means a whole lot!  Johnson's got both and could end up being a huge steal at #27.  We needed height and size.  He's 6'10" with long arms.  We needed offensive punch.  He can score in a number of ways and shoots a highly-efficient percentage from the field.  We have a defensively-oriented team.  He is adept at blocking shots and rebounding and was the Big 10 Defensive Player of the Year.  With his maturity and bball knowledge, he'll be a terrific student under KG, PP, and Ray Ray.  Right now he looks like the team's best pick since Rondo (and Rondo was a complete enigma when he was drafted).

I'm excited.  My only hesitation is that Doc may not give either guy minutes in order to grow.  This would be a big mistake.  You can't only rely on 35-40 year-old veterans with massive experience and wobbly legs.

I'd give them an A because I think it is unrealistic to expect anything better from where we picked.  Of course a post draft grade only means something if they actually reach or exceed expectations.

MarShon would never leave the bench on a Doc Rivers team. So picking him would be pointless unless he greatly improves his defense and develops other aspects of his game beyond volume scoring at the college level. Moore already is a good defender and is a statistically sound player in every facet of his offensive game. Hell, a few scouts think he is better than Iman Shumpert who the Knicks picked at #17.

I'd have to say A at the moment.  Maybe A- but that would be based on greed and the urge for a Celtic shopping spree.

I'm most curious to see how Jordan Hamilton does.  He fell quite far....

After the Avery Bradley debacle last year does anyone think it's a coincidence Ainge went for two four year seniors?

I really like that we got an extra pick.  I think that could end up being very helpful.  If we need to trade some future first rounders to get CP3 or Howard, having a potentially early 2nd rounder will be pretty nice to help us fill out the roster with cheap talent in future years.

Future first rounders has a nice sound to it for trades; future second rounders does not.  But Danny has done a good job turning second round picks into mid-end of rotation players (Baby, Powe, Erden, Bill Walker) so I'd be glad to send off those late first rounders in trades to get a superstar and hope that NJ's second rounder could provide us with a player not too much less talented.

Hard to say we got much for those late picks. Baby got a ring' but could walk for nothing. Not sure we got much for Walker, Powe or Erden. Better than nothing yes; but in some cases would like to see them stick with people a little longer and develop them rather than bringing in someone new. Chauncey and Joe Johnson come to mind. JJ Johnson better be a lot better than Erdin or else we are just spinning our wheels.
