I like this for Milwaukee, and it makes sense for Charlotte.
Sacramento, though? They move down in the draft and give up their starting point guard for a 31 year old John Salmons. Udrih has $20.7 million left on his deal, and Salmons has $33.2 million left, so they're taking on a lot more salary, too.
Help me out. Sacramento moved down in the draft, took on money, and got older, for a guy who is, at best, a lateral move compared to Udrih. Why?
I'm with you. And seems to me Salmons only crowds a 2/3 rotation with no clear pecking order: Garcia, Casspi, Greene, and most likely Thornton. It's possible that another warm body lands in Sacramento? Or else a second trade?
Magette and the 7th? I think I'd rather have Captain Jack and the 19th. In fact I know I would.
Current wisdom claims this draft is nine, ten, or eleven players deep depending on what you read. And in my opinion, it's never a mistake to trade up for the player at the top of your board.
As for Maggette vs. Jackson? Captain Jack is the live-wire. But Skiles is going to greatly prefer his defense and passing, so much so that he'll live with all those long jumpers. Maggette is a better locker room influence for the rebuilding Bobcats. And he still gets to the line as well as anybody in this league.
I'm glad only because Corey's wildly unpredictable bench role on the Bucks has been killing me in fantasy for two years now.
