I like this for Milwaukee, and it makes sense for Charlotte.

Sacramento, though?  They move down in the draft and give up their starting point guard for a 31 year old John Salmons.  Udrih has $20.7 million left on his deal, and Salmons has $33.2 million left, so they're taking on a lot more salary, too.

Help me out.  Sacramento moved down in the draft, took on money, and got older, for a guy who is, at best, a lateral move compared to Udrih.  Why?

Sacramento must be eyeing a PG either at #10 or some other way.  It makes absolutely zero sense otherwise.  Zero.

But weren't they eying a PG at #7 to begin with? Usually when you slide down a few spots in a draft, you pick up value. They must really value Salmons and that long contract he has.

Head scratcher, for sure.

D.Cousins, T.Evans and J.Salmons all on the same team.

That is not going to be a fun basketball to play on.

None of Jack's teammates have ever complained about him, not even Duncan, but Maggette has been a dog his entire career.

A dog? I've only ever read that Corey is also well-liked, and a good teammate, just not much fun to play alongside.

I'd agree
Does this mean that SAC is moving Tyreke Evans back to PG?

Or Salmons a SF? I thought he was a SG.

My money is now on Salmons at small forward. He's stared at the 3 for the Kings before. Kemba or Jimmer at 10, barring another deal.

And if I had to choose between Maggette and Jackson for who I'd want my younger players to be around and help build a team mentality I'd choose Jackson.

Tough call. Stephen "I get techs because I want to" Jackson plays with intensity, plays better defense, has won a title, but has also forced his way off one losing team already (Warriors), can be a hot head, and a distraction.

Maggette is a much mellower, for better and worse. Both are ball-stoppers, but Corey is at least attacking the rim.
I think Jackson's defense, rebounding, and more varied offenseive game is better.

Hence why Charlotte was able to move him and move up in the draft.

Not for nothing, isn't he also owed less money? I can't imagine anyone arguing about the difference in their defense (great vs. passable to uninterested), but Corey is the better rebounder by a fair margin, and I'm not sure who's offensive game I prefer.

EDIT - TRB% is 10% vs. 6.9%. Rebounds per 36 is 6.3 vs. 4.3.

Yeah, but I guess they like PG + Salmons more than just a PG.  I guess it depends on how much you like Salmons.  He can be a solid player on the right team.  So, if they can get a PG, I guess the trade is OK.  If they can't, complete melon scratcher.

Maybe Geoff Petrie is enacting some sort of new strategy for the Maloofs: alienate the fan base, get relocated.

Shades of Major League.

Yah...WHY?  My only guess is that they really like Salmons for some reason, or they are going to trade Salmons and the 10 somewhere else later.

Not believing any of this Tristan Thompson at 7 stuff. Charlotte did this trade to jump ahead of Detroit and take Biyombo. If he's there.

But why is SAC adding salary?  I thought they were broke?  This makes no sense on their part.

Milwaukee picks up Udrih and Livingston (both PGs).  What does that mean for Brandon Jackson?

Saw that too.

So, at 7, Charlotte takes Biyombo.

Are Walker and Fredette gone by the time Sacto picks at 10?

If yes, they've shot themselves in the foot with this deal.

Brandon Jackson is probably still stuck as backup for Green Bay since Milwaukee doesn't need any running backs.

Just thinking out loud here: I would not be surprised to hear rumors now of New York trying to work out a deal with Detroit for the #8 to scoop Fredette.

BTW, I can't help but want to call him Frodo. For me, Jimmer is to Elijah Wood as Ersan is to James Franco.
