Chad Ford: Corrected deal: Bucks get Beno, Stephen Jackson, Shaun Livingston & 19. Bobcats get pick 7 & Maggette. Kings get 10 & John Salmons. Twitter

Did anyone get better in this trade?
Charlotte

Charlotte made out like bandits in my opinion. They dump Livingston, move up 12 spots to get Thompson out of Texas likely who they really want, and exchange Jackson for Maggette which doesn't really effect them.

Milwaukee should have kept the Kings draft pick and Maggette instead of trading for S.Jackson.

Can't wait to see how bad Jordan messes up the 7th pick

I like this for Milwaukee, and it makes sense for Charlotte.

Sacramento, though?  They move down in the draft and give up their starting point guard for a 31 year old John Salmons.  Udrih has $20.7 million left on his deal, and Salmons has $33.2 million left, so they're taking on a lot more salary, too.

Help me out.  Sacramento moved down in the draft, took on money, and got older, for a guy who is, at best, a lateral move compared to Udrih.  Why?

Magette and the 7th? I think I'd rather have Captain Jack and the 19th. In fact I know I would.

Why?

Neither player is of any importance to Charlotte. They are rebuilding team that has no long term need for either player. Both are too old to play a role in the club's future. Plus, both player's contracts expire in two years so there is no difference to their cap either.

The only significant assets are the draft picks and the #7 pick is a much better asset than the #19 pick.

A win for Charlotte.

So, it's:

MIL trades Maggette, Salmons, and 10th pick, gets Udrih, Jackson, Livingston and the 19th pick

CHA trades Jackson, Livingston, and the 19th pick, gets 7th pick and Maggette

SAC trades Udrih and 7th, gets Salmons and 10th pick

I like it for MIL and CHA, less so for SAC.

Ford says that other players may be in the deal.

My only thought is they want to draft Kemba or Jimmer to be their PG, so by moving to 10 they still think they can get one and pay them less money and then it fills another need with Salmons

Three of the most depressingly boring teams in the league swap overpaid journeymen and mediocre draft picks.  I guess I agree with the consensus that Charlotte looks to have improved its situation, but it's hard to summon an opinion on such uninspiring moves.

Yeah, giving up a lottery pick just to trade Maggette for Jackson seems pretty foolish to me.

Was Maggette really that bad of a cancer/fit?

It could be.  Or, they could be moving the #10 pick for a vet, like Felton.  If that were to happen, I'd at least see their reasoning (picking up two starters for Udrih and the #7).

A win for Charlotte.

This draft is so weak that I really don't think Tristan Thompson is that better a prospect than Kenneth Farried or Jeremy Tyler who both will be there at 19. And if I had to choose between Maggette and Jackson for who I'd want my younger players to be around and help build a team mentality I'd choose Jackson. Also, contending teams would more likely be interested in trading for Jack mid season than Maggette and would be willing to give up young assets. I think this is a loss.

Does this mean that SAC is moving Tyreke Evans back to PG?

Or Salmons a SF? I thought he was a SG.

Also, if you look at the contracts involved, SAC took on longer payroll and got back a worse pick. So it looks like they lose out on this deal from virtually every perspective (roster fit, draft pick, money).
