According to Adrian Wojnarowski, from yahoo sports:

Atlanta trying to unload JJ and Smith. Since JJ is almost unmovable, they are looking into moving Smith.

Josh Smith seems to have cooled on Atlanta & wouldn't mind going somewhere else.  He said that Boston is one of his preferred destinations.

Atlanta GM Rick Sund has long coveted Kevin Garnett(notes) and Ray Allen(notes) – two aging Celtics entering the final years of contracts – but Celtics GM Danny Ainge has yet to show an inclination to break up his core for next season.

So, do you go for it?

Trade Smith for RAllen straith up or Smith plus something for Garnett?

What's interesting to me is that it probably means Danny is targeting Smith next summer. Although Smith will still be under contract with the Hawks for one last year (13 million) I wouldn't be surprised to see Danny trade some picks to Atlanta to get Smith straight up, to pair him with Rondo and Green. Would be an interesting trio although it would clearly need better players/pieces to be good enough to contend.

Possible starting 5: rondo Pierce green garnett Smith. That's à pretty versatile lineup.

I'd do it. KG for Josh Smith or Ray/Baby... Either way count me in. We need someone to rebound and protect the rim.

KG starts at center, smith, green, pierce?, rondo
or fill someone into starting sg spot, then a bench group of jermaine, pierce, delonte makes a strong core for second unit

Smith would be a great infusion of everything the team needs.  He could probably be scary good in the right culture.

Joe Johnson's contract is probably the worsed in the league ( excluding Arenas).  JJ as a player is nice, but i wonder whether he's got the killer instinct & with that contract he's a definite no go.

They both played superb ball this year, (easily the best they've played since '08 - maybe sooner), and have plenty more to contribute ... our best shot at a championship still remains with the Big Three as our core.
