Kristic signing with CSKA plus more depressing news

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I am curious whether this contract will have a clause that allows Krstic to return to the NBA after the lockout ends.

Obviously, its a longshot, but I expect a lot of free agents to be signing in Europe with contracts like that, and given the bad news out of negotiations lately, it seems like there isn't much reason in waiting on it.

No matter what though, Danny is going to have to be very creative this summer (or whenever things open back up).

But he was UNR so there's no recourse to get a TPE similar to Atl. and Childress ... I think.

This sounds strange. IIRC, wasn't Childress resigned and traded by Atlanta to Phoenix upon his return to the NBA, which granted the Hawks the TPE? No TPE was generated when Childress left for Greece.

Regardless, Boston holds no rights on Krstic, so if/when he returns to the NBA, Boston has no opportunity for a similar outcome. I think.

He is indeed a decent back up - however, when backing up Jermaine O'Neal you are going to be a starter for a good portion of the season and playing big minutes in the playoffs

I am waiting to see the money.  I have heard that it is something like 6 million Euros over 2 years.  When you consider the exchange rate, the lack of taxes, and the fact that generally Euro teams will also pay living expenses on top of the salary, if those numbers are correct, there is probably no way he is getting that money in the US, and he will be staying.

I didn't realize those additional perks, nor that the dollar was that weak compared to the Euro. 6 million Euros is roughly $8.7 million. So he would be hard-pressed to beat that kind of a deal.

His departure will force Danny to aggressively go after a usable center.

Deandre Jordan, T Chandler, Marc Gassol, Greg Oden and Sam Dalembert (others?) are all restricted or free agents this summer.

gassol and chandler will probably stay put but there's a good chance the rest move.

Miami, NY and a few other teams will be active buyers, but IMO we have a good shot at landing either dalembert, jordan or oden this summer.

any one of whom would be an upgrade.

y not? Samuel can easily replicate Kendrick Perkins numbers pre-ACL/MCL tear. Sam one of the better Defensive Center in the NBA. He is agile, fast, athletic, durable, and coachable. Picture Rondo throwing alleyoops to Sam.

I don't think he is that great a defensive center. He is not bad but I think some of his shot blocking skills have people believing he is a better defensive presence than he really is. He's not bad but he is overpaid and he's not someone I'd be exactly thrilled with getting. He's like a very poor mans Tyson Chandler
