  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I think Kemp's glue guy appeal, defensive range and rebounding at the PF position is very under-rated in this fantasy game. It's a shame not to see him get more playing time somewhere else.

A S.Kemp + B.Russell duo defensively? Wow, that would be a sight to see.

See I was thinking that, but I get the impression that Otart wants to play Russell at the 4 at times, and give Morning burn at the 5, as well as allowing Marion's versatility to blossom, as it were.

We all know that the game seems to slow down in crunch time.

Who thinks they have the best half-court set/lineup and why?
Philadelphia is going to be murder to defend against with Michael Jordan and Dirk Nowitzki.

Great two man game between those two guys. Capable of creating their own shots against just about every defender. And then they have Dominique Wilkins or Carmelo Anthony as a third option.

Ya, that was a bit of an oversight by me, absolutely the best half court team.

Agreed. Dirk was to me maybe the second best 'complementary' piece taken in this draft, second to Pippen. Just makes Philly absolutely lethal.

Offensively, Jordan + Dirk is very good.  I'm not sure they're hands down the best half-court team, though.  (I've got to think that Philly inserts Gilmore in for Howard at the end of games.)

Teams I'd argue are in the conversation:  Miami, Atlanta, Portland, Memphis, Seattle

All of those teams should have no problem creating offense.  (Really, none of the teams should)

End of game go to player is Jerry West...aka...Mr. Clutch.

End of game lineup might be

Bill Walton
Pau Gasol
Dave DeBusschere
Jerry West
Magic Johnson

and I think this would lineup in a half court setting, later in games, brings the best combo of defense and half court offense and Gasol and DeBusschere stretch the floor a bit better with their mid range games giving magic and West more room to work and options to hit as well as opening the inside out game for Magic and Walton with good shooting options. And, as always, the frontcourt is a solid rebounding unit.

The way I have it now: Russell would really be the power forward for the 7 minutes I have Zo listed.

MATRIX would not be playing the 4, except for maybe on last second shots (still unlikely). I think he could do it against some opponents, but it doesn't make sense to do when I'm struggling to get Kemp minutes.

Personally, as much as I love Kemp as a player, I think I have to get Mourning as many minutes as possible.

I like that  my team and my answers to the league wide questions have been met with no responses, I'm going to take that as a league wide , " Yeah, that makes sense, your team is really good" comment.

  • Yup
In addition to crunch-time lineups, could everyone identify their end of game closer?

(Sorry if this has been asked before.  I'm a day behind on this).

Larry Joe Bird
Yup

Can't say I'm shocked by that one.

Between Larry and Sam Jones, you certainly don't lack in clutch players.

I was hoping you'd say Chris Webber, though.

Personally, as much as I love Kemp as a player, I think I have to get Mourning as many minutes as possible.

It's more about what type of style of play you want to generate.

Playing Alonzo and Bill together gives you more of a power lineup, makes you more of a halfcourt team. Slower anyway. You'll still be able to run a good bit but you'd be slower and less effective at it. More halfcourt possessions.

Playing Kemp alongside Bill makes you more an uptempo team and gives you a great trapping defense vs funneling to the two shot-blocking centers combo. It also gives you a lot more quickness to the ball on rebounding opportunities + both Kemp and Russell can advance the ball with their dribble.

Personally, I like your team more as an uptempo unit so I would go with Shawn Kemp for your backup PF minutes.
