Amare Stoudemire- 2007-08

.........................

Stats:            PPG      RPG      APG      FG%
Amare Stoudemire:   25.2   9.1   1.5   .590   .161   2.1   .8

.........................

Minutes

C: Shaquille O’Neal 38/ Paul Silas 10
PF: Bob Pettit 35/ Amare 13
SF: Elgin Baylor 40/ Schrempf 8
SG: George Gervin 35/ Manu 13
PG: Deron Williams 30/ Rose 18

I would pick Amare's 2004-05 season. Before he first got hurt. As great of an athlete as Amare is nowadays he still lost quite a bit of his explosiveness from those injuries. He was an absolute animal athletically before that injury.

Amare had a great playoff run that season too. Dismantled Tim Duncan's defense in the Conference Finals and Duncan was the best defensive player in the league at that time. Timmy had no answer (one-on-one defense) for Amare.

That is the Amare Stoudemire I'd pick. Less skilled but his quickness / explosiveness opened up a lot more doors for him offensively with his face up game (blow by ability).

I also think Amare should be your backup five with Silas at the four. Although it does make a good point that teams with a slow footed backup center could switch their PF onto Amare and leave their C on Silas. Still, Silas + Amare would be excellent in transition offense with their quickness.

Good call on Amare's year, I will make the change in the profile thread

I think its Indy.  You have two core pieces to one of the best run and gun teams of the current generation in nash and Marion, and then add in Chuck, Russell, and Wade?  Thats dirty

I'd give it to Seattle. Fast players, who all can finish very well, and are all great team players and passers.

Would be that much better at this if they moved Grant Hill back to the starting lineup.

One thing about the Indy team that worries me is that while there is no denying Wade's excellence as a player, he's no 3pt shooter, and neither is Barkley, and Marion's 31% is kind of paltry in this setting. Really the only big 3pt shooter in Indy's starting lineup is Nash.

While Thunder Dan will be a welcome sight off the bench, the skill disparity between the two is pretty wide. Wade just does more, and does it better.

The problem is that Nash isn't going to have a target for those trailing kickout 3's he had in the mid-2000's in Joe Johnson, James Jones, Raja Bell, etc..and while I don't think its going to cost Indy too many wins, its going to cost them offensive efficiency and points.

Yeah, they're pretty solid. Kind of mirror images of Indy in a lot of ways (strong defensive SF, C...great distributing PG..)

I see your point but on those teams he never had a guy with the skill set of Wade, I am sure they would adapt, I think they are too good not to.

A complete disregard for Glen Rice is unacceptable.

Denver I'm not as high on as I used to be, but Chicago, still an amazing transition team. I'm not as high on Bill Walton as some others (Who, you ask? Yes.) but he is absolutely one of the best outlet passers of all time (the guy who makes the pass before the assist), and between West, Durant, and even Petrovic will all be lethal shooters from outside, and that'll give Magic Johnson enough cover to operate. I don't like them in transition with Rodman out there though at the 3.

What's a Glen Rice?

Probably the best pure everything in the history of basketball. Including Greek Mythology.

Here's another question for those owners who deign to grace us with their presence this morning: When you look at your team, how deep is your rotation in your mind?

Yeah, yeah..I get that its matchup dependent...but realistically are you seeing a 10man rotation, or are you seeing more of a 7-8 man unit?

9 players playing consistent minutes ( Hakeem, Lucas, Pippen, Lewis, Kidd, Hill, Penny, Cowens, Miller) with a tenth player depending on match-ups.

I'm ten deep, but I could see myself dropping Iguodala and/or Kemp in a playoff run depending on match ups.
