It's interesting to see the different philosophies in action.  Moranis, for instance, is building a squad around uber-athletic modern day players (well, three of his starters), whereas, say, Redz is built around players who dominated other eras.  The discussion at the end of this will be fascinating to see how people think they match up against other teams.
Even Moses and McAdoo are fairly athletic for their time.

I really like the mix on my team.  Good mix of outside shooting and post play at the 4/5 and my three "smalls" are excellent with and without the ball.  Obviously the team will run through Lebron, but I really like the backcourt of Pierce and Paul as a compliment to Lebron.  I envision all sorts of pick and rolls and drive and dish scenarios, with Moses down low to clean up the boards and McAdoo at 10-15 feet for jumpers.
I'd gladly challenge any team to an athleticism contest.  LeBron might be good but my guys would alley-oop all over him.

What are the athletic events our guys would be competing in?
Round 1:  chasing butterflies.

Pretty sure Alonzo Mourning is the greatest butterfly catcher in the history of butterfly catching.

Interesting pick. Definitely one of the best players in history at doing what he does, but I wonder how much you need what he's bringing to the table, especially with Willis Reed already in the fold.

The Seattle Supersonics are psyched that : (Reggie Miller)
was available for their pick this round.

Interesting. Probably not the BPA, but a great fit for your team.

Definitely not BPA but he was the BSGA once Sam Jones was gone.

Ah, interesting.  I knew he'd be coming off the board soon.

Here's my take on Rodman:  his rebounding was as good as anybody's ever, and his defense was top-notch.  However, in a draft like this, where there are so many great players, I'm not sure that Rodman's defense and rebounding are so much better that they offset his complete lack of an offensive game.

I made the same argument against Moranis last year, I believe, so I may as well stay consistent.

Nice Pick!

Even better that my primary two picks are still on the table.

Re-enforcement is coming in a min for my frontline!

The comment above might be getting a bit close to nick's "no hints" rule.

Rodman is my sixth man/defensive specialist at the 3/4. He will not be starting but he will play in crunch time atainst certain SFs and PFs.

With the 9th pick of the 2011 CelticsBlog Historical Draft, The Los Angeles Lakers acquire the frontcourt help they need, with the selection of:

Big Ben Wallace!

We needed a beefy, strong, athletic Big that could give us another big body to battle the Wilts and Shaqs, and this guy was strong enough to do just that.

Doesn't need the ball to be happy, either - just rebound, be tough, and block shots, Big Guy!

And with the Ben Wallace Pick, I think I can tinker with my frontline a bit:

C - Kareem/Big Ben
PF - Big Ben/KG
SF - KG (03-04)

Come on, can I seriously not pick George Mikan?

Is this an NBA draft or a 1960+ draft (in which case why can't you pick ABA years)?
