When this is all said and done you will 1) Hate your team   2) Love this guy

False, I will always love the defensive combo of Hakeem and Scottie.

Pippen is as big overrated  as Monta Ellis tatoo is big.

Edgar, we all know you hate of ridiculously athletic Small Forwards who play great defense a well as distribute the ball.

 ;D  but I love Olajuwon.
probably more than the majority here
For me Olajuwon in his prime is one of the only one or 2 capable of matching Shaq in his prime.
And.. he can make him dance while doing that.

you need a pg of my likeness or a sg i love

I'm not crazy about him, but the primo big men are going fast, and I think the smaller guy I eying will be there in four picks when I pick again.  I'll go with my 2nd Dream Teamer.

THE ADMIRAL

David Robinson

I absolutely love The Admiral.

All I can say is the Miami-Lakers battles with Wilt/McHale versus Kareem/KG is going to be nasty and intense.

Agreed!

Love your frontline, Rebus. Glad to see that David went to Redz, too.

Side note: I was looking through my PMs from this summer's draft. The deals I was offering/ were being turned down for Blake Griffin were absurd in retrospect.

I love Hakeem, too.

I've mentioned on here, last Historical Draft and throughout other discussions how I thought Hakeem was perhaps the most polished Big ever.

Free throws? Inside/Outside? Rebounding? Steals? Assists? Blocks? Athleticism? Length? Timing?

He had it all. And he may not have had quite the level of talent as some other Championship teams.

I would've been in a quandary if he dropped to me in the first round. I would've been seriously torn between him or Kareem, but I'm glad I got Captain Skyhook. By picking Kareem I've otherwise had to review a lot of video about him, which in turn has reminded me how great the man was.

As a Diehard Celtic, I had admittedly closed my mind off to many Lakers over the years.

I loved the Kevin Garnett pick.

I think he has tremendous value in an environment like this because of his versatility and defensive range. Please do not limit KG to one position. He has the ability to create and eliminate matchups across the board. All five positions.
That's why I thought he'd be awesome with LeBron, two guys who could play anywhere and excel.
Oh yeah, that would have been beautiful.

That was the pick I was hoping Moranis was going to make too.

In the next two rounds, add in a top center with legitimate size and interior defense / rebounding + a quality ball-handler / passer / defender with size on the perimeter. Lovely stuff.
The problem is by the time I pick again, there aren't going to be that many, if any, top centers left.  I think C is the one position you have to get in the first two rounds of this thing, everywhere else you can wait, but not center.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I understand not wanting to take the risk.  My guess, though, is that by the time your pick comes around again, there will still be a few HOF big men left on the board.  I think there are some guys who will be overlooked.
