Um no, I'm saying it's a small sample size.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I'm also fairly skeptical of sims because individual defensive statistics in basketball are nowhere near as sophisticated as offensive statistics.

Question for my presentation:

Does Celticsblog support 3D presentations? I'm thinking of going all sorts of Avatar up in this.

If you make everyone wear glasses, you'll not fare well, sir.

With their final selection the Memphis Grizzlies are going pure offense

SF - Kiki Vandeweghe

1983-84 in just 35.1 minutes a game Kiki bombed it from everywhere for 29.4 ppg, with a FG% of 55.8, which includes 36.7% from 3, and a nice solid 85.2% from the line for a TS% of 61.8% and eFG% of 56.2%, which makes Kiki one of the most efficient scorers ever.

Compared to Detlef Schrempf, Kiki Vandeweghe is a VERY small forward
1 inch shorter but just flat out better.  Much better scorer, much more efficient scorer, and both are terrible defensively.  I will give you that Detlef is a better rebounder, but given Detlef isn't elite in that regard, I'd much rather have the significantly better offensive player.

Detlef is a much more efficient offensive player as well as the player with the better basketball IQ and is significantly better suited to coming off the bench, something that I think is being overlooked in this game.
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

That I would agree with.

The year I chose from Kiki

78 games, 71 starts (so clearly Kiki is capable of coming off the bench)

35.1 minutes
29.4 points
55.8% from the field (2 and 3)
36.7% from three
85.2% from the line
for a TS% of 61.8% and eFG% of 56.2%
PER 23.6
AST% 13.1

Kiki had 6 straight seasons of 21.5+ ppg where his lowest FG% was 52.3% (the TS% that season was 59.7% the other 5 were all well above 60%).  In the 7th season he played 37 games (started just 7) and was at over 20 ppg and 50.8%.  Had he not gotten injured there is no doubt in my mind he would have continued scoring at a very high and very efficient rate.

It is laughable to call Detlef as efficient as Kiki.  He just isn't.  He only had one season as efficient as the season I chose and he started every game (and thus clearly wasn't better suited to come off the bench).

whatifsports develops defensive ratings (and offensive ratings) based on all sorts of statistics, awards, etc.  I've actually found them to do a fairly good job of getting it right.  It is obviously a simulation and has plenty of subjectivity in it, but as simulations go, I don't think you will find a better one that can actually do this for this sort of draft.

BTW, your Nique is 85/86.  You have the stats right, just the wrong year.

I simmed Memphis at Philadelphia 5 times, Memphis won all five. Lebron and Jordan essentially cancelled each other out (some games Jordan was better, some Lebron was).  The biggest factor seemed to be Chris Paul vs. Bob Cousy in which Paul was superior in every game and some by a wide margin.  Malone also out performed Howard in virtually every game.

I think picking a more dominant year from Dirk would probably help as this year he wasn't that dominant.

Yeah, when I make the charts I copy and paste the html in blocks, and I didn't change the years when copying Gilmore's to 'Nique's ... thanks for the heads-up, (TP). I don't think I'll be staying with those years anyway ... and Cousy isn't my starting PG, (pretty sweet to have his passing off the bench, though ;)).

If anyone wants to take a stab at putting together a team profile for me let me know.  At this point I'm just not seeing it happening for me.  I did a half-hearted one the other night with years I chose.

PM me if you're willing.

Thanks.

Redz -

I posted this the other day so people could copy the template, (I think Nick already used it), and offered to do it for anyone that asked. I won't be home until this evening, but if you PM me your players and years, (years especially, I can get your players from the other page), I'd be happy to make one up for you. Just let me know what kind of order you want them in, (I did mine by year, but I can do them by position, alphabetical, whatever) ... just let me know.
