Because for now, let's say Roy has been the dominant voice amongst the panelists. If you start catering your team to what he is saying you might only be pleasing one third, or one fifth or one seventh of the panelists and doing yourself a disservice.

God help those GMs who try to shape their team according to Edgar's whims.

Vote me.

Yeah, that'll work.

Okay then this is easy. You don't cater your picks after the draft is over, you do it during the draft. If some people are listening to what one panelist is saying, say Edgar or Roy, and take what they are saying into consideration before taking picks, they are doing themselves a disservice. Build the team your way and pick the players you want and after the draft is over, profile them the way you want and answer the questions to the best of your abilities.

Oooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrr...
MOVING PHOTOS AND TEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That will do nicely.  Scrolling text + at least one Celtic + no Lakers = success.

Or, if you're going for the CrotoNats method, just take a lot of old, injury-prone players and market the heck out of your team.

Wilt tortues Robinson worse than Hakeem in the 1995 play-offs, McHale destroys your yet to be drafted PF. Meanwhile Barry matches Larry trash talk for trash talk. ;D

Nate Thurmond has more muscle in his pinky than McHale has in whole body.   ;D

Don't make me have McHale clothesline your whole team. He'll do it. Just ask Kurt Rambis.  ;D

he wouldn't dare clothesline his mealticket

Yup

Interesting concepts being thrown around but, you know what, it doesn't matter.

Its a subjective game and there are three panelists....for now. The panelists will see things the way they want and vote accordingly and the results will be what they will be.

I would save some of this in depth over-analysis for the team profiles at the end and answer the questions that panelists ask then.

Because for now, let's say Roy has been the dominant voice amongst the panelists. If you start catering your team to what he is saying you might only be pleasing one third, or one fifth or one seventh of the panelists and doing yourself a disservice.

Make the team you feel most comfortable with and that you like the most and that way you will be able to discuss it most intelligently and sway all the panelists to see what you see.

Yes, this does mean I might be adding more panelists or already have some that I have not announced.
How do you cater to your team after the drafting is over?
You are kidding...right?
No, I'm one of the few guys on this site that thinks talking up your team is nothing compared to the players you actually pick.  I let them do the talking.

AKA, make picks blindly or don't even worry about it because each panelist is gonna judge your team based on their own random non-uniformed criteria anyway.

This is what Roy was getting at by asking for set rules.  How does asking for the criteria after as you say, or even during, help as opposed to before?  And what does it even matter if the judges have conflicting criteria?

Enjoying the idea of that Paul Pierce + LeBron James combination on the wing. Those two are going to be tough to combat against. Well rounded and strong physical players. Great foundation for a power lineup.

I didn't like the Joe Dumars pick. I thought this was way too early for him to be taken.

You must not have been listening to me earlier or missed the post.

This is not a game, it is a beauty contest. It is a bunch of people putting together players from different eras, trying to create the best team they can while others subjectively and objectively look at the teams and decide which they like best.

In a Miss America contest the judges do not have a point system where a certain height gets X points, a certain measurement gets Y points, a certain color hair, skin, eyes, etc. get Z points, a certain type of talent gets A points and a certain answer to the asked question gets B points, you add up X, Y, Z, A, and B and get a winner.

The judges make their decisions on who they think is most talented, who they think is most beautiful and who they think had the best answer and vote and the girl with the most points wins.

Same here.

This is an exercise in subjective basketball knowledge and preference. You make the best team you can and then let others decide what they think based on their own preferences and knowledge.

Its a beauty contest. Want a game of a super competitive nature, play the CB Draft or grab a ball, join a league and kick ass. Want to have fun debating players of different eras, putting together a team with those players and maybe learn something about players and the game you didn't know before, participate in the CB Historical Draft.

These are the "rules" of the game. There are very little rules and the judging is subjective with no parameters.

That's the way it is.

I can't explain it any clearer than that. Want to win and get the exhilaration of winning, go play NBA 2K11 on XBox or something. That's not what this is all about.

thanks.  McAdoo is a bit finesse, but Moses is definately power down low as well.

Also, as an aside.  I use Whatifsports a lot for values and differentiating between seasons and it has Pierce's defensive rating in 01/02 at 88 out of 100.  That is by far his highest defensive rating of any season, which supports the raw data from basketball reference.  That was easily Pierce's most complete season, his teammates just weren't good enough, which is the only reason it isn't his title season.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

You know when we were talking earlier I completely forgot you had LeBron until you said that about needing Pierce as a SG. Who's right. That's a very powerful wing combo with a great ability to get to the rim and finish.
