we should forward this thread to Lakers management so they sign and trade Bynum for Marc Gasol and leave Dwight for us.

I know I am way late to this thread but the premise is downright ridiculous.  I would take Dwight Howard over both Gasols even if the Gasols came for free.

And Dwight has no impact?!?!?  I would argue that howard is more  impactful to winning that any player in the entire NBA.  In the entire world; heck, the whole universe.

Geez.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
huh? Would you still have taken Sam Bowie over Jordan, too?

Celtics kind of need a star like Dwight Howard to pair with Rondo.

From my perspective (i'm a bit Bias) Boston would be a better fit for Dwight.

LA will be going into 2012 with a 34 year old former star making 27 Mil, a 32 year old STAR power forward making 19 Mil, then Luke Walton/Steve Blake combining for 10 Mil... you do that math on that.

BOS on the other hand will have 35 year old Paul Pierce making 16 Mil, 26 year old Rondo at only 11 Mil then.... wait for it... Avery Bradley making 1.6 Mil (not even guaransheed). Obviously Boston would most likely bring back KG and Ray for much less that what they're currently making (31 Mil combined). Most likely factor in Jeff Green as well.... but you're still looking at around 39 guaranteed money (without Ray and Kevin) and the rest available for Dwight.

Compare that 39 Mil (Rondo, Pierce, Green, Bradley) to 57 Mil (Kobe, Gasol, Walton, Blake)

Oh and by the way... would you rather be coached by Doc Rivers or Brian Shaw?

There's my pitch.

I would rather have Chris Duhon than Derrick Rose. I'd take Erick Dampier over Andrew Bynum. Definitely toss me Kyle Korver over LBJ anyday of the week. Brian Cardinal, you bess believe I'm taking him over Amare Stoudemire. I like this thread, it is fun to throw out ridiculousness.

This guy's dunks look very LeBron James like.  There are a lot of similarities in their games as well.

Hahahaha

I obviously know Dwight is the better player no doubt
But I think Gasol has more skills especially in the post. Plus he has more upside
I think Dwight's athleticism is going to fade in about 3 years, and he would have no skills to fall back on

i for one agree with your analysis.  a major point is that i see gasol as having quite a bit of an upside whereas dwight's best years have likely already passed.

You realize that Dwight's the younger of the two, right? I don't see why his athleticism would fade when he's 28 years old, he's really just coming into his prime.
