While you are arguing about semantics, I will say it.  Marc Gasol is 7'1", and Howard is 6'11".  Either of them should be pretty clutch when standing near the basket! Few players could stuff either of them on a consistent basis.   And I do not believe you could say Marc is soft.

The NBA is a superstar league. You can't win with a bunch of lesser players like you can in other sports. Look at he Pistons, they spent $90mm on Ben Gordon and Charlie Villaneuva and all they have to show for it is two straight DNQ's. Then look at the Heat, they signed LeBron to pair with Wade and they reach the ECF in their first year together. Superstars win.

Since Howard is not an option, I would welcome Marc if we could get him. But what assets do we have that would entice the Memphs. to make that trade? They are not loco. :'(

I agree...Pretty much the way it is .  New teams like OKC, get some many draft picks , and building options to suck other teams dry , they often have decent sucess at first.

Howard HAS NOT signed with anyone yet or verbally committed  to LA.

Ok, keep BBD and all the old guys , we make the playoff ONE MORE TIME...get destroyed the first round this time
.. then its good by Celtics for another 25 years while we watch LA and Dwight beat the daylights out of us .

I do like Marc Gasol...but why would they want to trade him ?  I don't see ZERo chance of that happening.

Without People like CP3 , D12, ect ...we can't compete for a title.

Even the Nets have a Superstar .

NY, HEAT and Bulls will be getting BETTER not worse in the next 5 years .

SO you keep all this core , and get no new superstar blood, what will happen after next year. It would be really sad situation ...But the way people are talking , I can see it comming and its gonna be ugly, unless Danny does what needs to be done to right the ship.

I'm not sure what exactly
I was thinking of a Rondo/Big Baby/Draft picks for Connelly and Gasol. Love Rondo, but Celtics would be a much better team after the trade

Gasol is bigger and taller than Howard, has more basketball skills, and plays more team ball. Howard's game is not infectious (doesn't get his points within the offense). The rest of his teammates just stand around not involved in the game. And when you play Celtic basketball, team comes first

If Howard comes here, whatever. But I just rather have Gasol on the Celtics

How do you know what Celtic basketball is going to be like in 2 years though?  Dwight Howard isn't a selfish player, is he a good passer? Probably not, but he's not taking 20 shots a game.  He averaged 13.4 shots a game, but he averaged 22 pts per a game.  Paul Pierce averaged 12.8 a game, does that mean he doesn't play within the offense?  He takes a similar amount of shots as Dwight Howard does.
