Are you serious? Shaq sits out what? 12 weeks supposdly getting treatment. The medical staff clears him to play in April and he lasts 5 minutes before reinjuring himself and you dont see the problem? Just for the moment forget the issue of the supposed misdiagnosis and explain to me how the staff can clear him to play and have him reinjure himself so quickly? Its more than just age it stinks of incomptence. I guess its just conincidence that Phoenix can keep Grant Hill healthy enough to play 80 games this year and 81 last year at age 38.

Woah.... Shaq and Grant Hill are built completely differently. Shaq has been breaking down for a while now at multiple stops along the way.

Grant Hill's recovery is an extreme rarity. Shaq has got a huge body pounding on those legs day after day, year after year, decade after decade. The fact that he gave the Celtics what he did earlier this year is amazing.

Blaming the Celtics medical staff is just silly. I can't imagine that they are just a bunch of lazy misdiagnosers who aren't qualified to do their jobs.

Also, wasn't Shaq out with an achilles problem initially. And then he strained a calf muscle. Sounds like 2 different injuries on an old body.

My advice: Stop jumping at every bit of news on Shaq. Just count him out and maybe be pleasantly surprised if he returns. Worry about the game between the lines.

Lets crush those posers in Miami! Go Celtics!!

Shaq played 75 games two years ago and averaged 30mpg in Phoenix at age 37.

What about the pre med on Jermaine Oneal before he signed the MLE. I suppose they knew he would be out the whole regular season.  ::)

Do we have any success story in regards to rehab or injury. Even KG back in 09 should have had surgery right away and he might have been back for the playoffs.

These guys are subpar.

If he had a "phenomenal practice" yesterday then I think we missed a golden opportunity to get meaningful minutes (10-14) from him in Game 1. Supposedly he was lobbying to play, but Doc shot him down.

Perkins? KG this year?

How about Perkins coming back from a torn ACL faster than just about any athlete in memory?  What about Pierce and Ray Allen missing a combined 32 games over the last 4 years (including games they were held out of for non injury related issues), despite their advanced ages, and a ton of miles on them?

The fact is, you can point out injuries on every team.  Generally the older guys get, the more fragile they get, which puts the C's at especially high risk.

Now, I am not saying the C's medical staff is the best in the league.  But, I don't think there is any hard evidence that they are any worse than any other teams, simply because every player is different and every injury is different, and it is impossible to compare.

Where is the Krstic hate coming from? I think he has been quite decent so far in the playoffs. He's defending and rebounding, what else do you want?

How can we even judge the guy given that Doc clearly has little or no confidence to play him. 6 minutes on Sunday.

OK, so you're going to cling to Shaq's 1 healthy season since 2004-05. Must be the medical staff.

I think Phoenix's staff is amazing. Possibly the best in the NBA. However calling Boston's medical staff subpar, when they have to maintain the oldest roster in the NBA, just sounds wrong.

I have zero faith in the Celtics medical staff. This sounds like the same story we heard in 08/09 with KG.

Didnt Grant Hill specifically resign with the Suns instead of us this last offseason because of the Suns medical staff http://bleacherreport.com/articles/15899-phoenix-suns-

In 08-09 Shaq played 75 games at 30mpg for the Suns.

This is nothing like KG's injury. Shaq almost played in game 1, and he will play in this series. And unlike KG, surgery isn't going to fix anything, and I don't think he has another season left in him. He will go all out when he plays in this series.

You are correct. At least when KG first got hurt we knew he was going to be out for awhile. When Shaq got hurt in early February, the Celts said he would miss 2 or 3 games.

This whole thing just strongly implies the Celts just have no idea what they are doing in regards to injuries and it's been this way for years

Contrast this with the Pats. They really don't care if you don't like that someone is out

Or it just means that Shaq is dealing with a nagging injury that they do not know when it will be better enough for him to play...

Well they thought is was good enough to put him on the court at the end of April. He reinjured himself in five minutes. They must have been handeling it right for the previous 90 days and it was just a fluke.

Whether the training staff really has no idea when this guy will be ready OR the Celtics brass misleads the fans as to when these guys will be back doesnt matter.

Either way it stinks. We want to know the truth. I understand that it is kind of like predicting the weather with this old roster but they should have a better success rate.

We could've had a center rotation of JO/Perkins AND shaq right now.  :-X

Danny could have found SOME backup for Pierce that'd give us more than TROY MURPHY or GENTLE JEFF has.  :-X
