Annoying announcers – MBreen, JVG, MJackson

Lucky are the ones who live by the NE area and can listen to MGorman and TommyH.  The rest of the Celtics Nation had to listen to the Knick's trio.  I mean, I don't know if you noticed the enthusiasm from the supposed un-biased trio, when the Knicks were making their final push. It was so annoying.

I usually don't have a problem with this trio, and I think they are fair for the most part, but when the Knicks are playing....boy oh boy, their true (orange and blue) colors come out.  

These guys shouldn't be calling Knicks games on national TV.

Mike Breen is absolutely awful. I'll give you that. But I don't particularly have a problem with Jackson or Van Gundy.

They're pretty awful.  Jackson is the only one that I can somewhat tolerate.

I'd take any from a handful of TNT announcing crews or even Tirico/Brown over those three.

Jeff Van Gundy is okay but he has become too much of a personality than an analyst over the last couple of years. I can't stand Mike Breen or Mark Jackson.

Reggie Miller drives me up the wall ... worst of them all.

Only Breen is a Knicks announcer, he does their games with Walt Frazier. I don't recall a game on MSG with JVG and/or Marc.

But it is interesting because they are the national guys on ABC/ESPN, but all three have strong ties to the Knicks. It makes sense that they would be semi-rooting for them.

I didn't think they did that all too much in games 3 and 4.


To me, the worst random homer is Hubie Brown. He starts actively rooting for a team during the game, and it is usually the team the Celtics are playing. I think he usually starts rooting for the team trailing, but it is pretty annoying.

I don't really mind them, though they get a little too inside-jokey and Van Gundy is much too fond of the soapbox the position provides him.  But they rarely distract me from the game like some of the horrible local announcers do in the regular season. 

As far as the Knicks' comeback they obviously have Knicks connections, but as a general rule announcers want games to be interesting, which means they're always quietly rooting for the team that's behind.  It being the Knicks might've made them a little more excited about it but I wouldn't read too much into it, they just wanted a big finish to call.

Really?  I thought it was a running theme with that group that Van Gundy criticizes the calls the officials make (and the league's rules) and Breen defends them.  They don't show every borderline call but they cover several every game.  Bill Walker's offensive foul against Krstic and Melo's flagrant on Rondo come to mind.

Unfortunately none of us got Mike and Tommy yesterday since their last broadcast game of the season was on Friday.  Your point still stands however.

mark Jason has some real goofy lines...like yesterday he said Resurrection Sunday about  Amare after he had...made one basket...1-10FG...and Van gundy said after one basket....LOL

They also nervously went to break after Mark Jackson's comment. I think that they realized how offensive that comment was to most Christians on Easter Sunday. I can't believe his insensitivity. Usually I don't mind him, but that definitely didn't win him any fans.

I think Jackson and Gundy are hilarious. You just can't take them too seriously or to heart. I love Jackson's phrases: HAND DOWN, MAN DOWN. and MEET ME AT THE RIM. Gundy has the most random craziest ideas. The always make me laugh.
