Annoying announcers – MBreen, JVG, MJackson

I hate JVG, he's lost it and acts like if he was Charles Barkley. I didn't like him as a coach, but as part of the sports hype machine, he's disgusting. I think he hates the Celtics, and their success, and it has nothing to do with being a NY Guy. He's a Pat Riley guy, and his prediction of 70 + wins for the Miami Hype Machine was the ultimate sign of that. I'd rather have his brother as a Celtics coach than him, and that's something.

Mark Jackson was an interesting player, strong personality, but as an announcer, he's just in the mold of every one of them. The script includes always worshipping the greatest players ever: Mike, then Kobe, then LeBron, a bit of Wade and now Rose. I think Reggie Miller, who was an amazing player, is even worse than Jackson.

Breen is not that bad, only Marv Albert is a better option, and maybe Doris Burke. And I didn't know he was the knicks play-by-play, but I listened to them in the last RS match at the Madison SG, and I find them very nice to listen. Obviously, Mike and Tommy are the best, so everyone else compared to them are not very good. But Frazier is good, and Breen not bad at all. If you listen to the Laker guys, or the Raptor guys... wow, that's something else.

We are lucky to have Tommy and Mike. Donny Marshall and Tanguay are not very good, so I hope they keep doing the Celtics games.

Doris Burke knows her stuff but she has a really annoying voice. The only thing I like about Breen is "bang!"

I dont have a problem with Jackson at all, Van Gundy is humerous, except when he will question whether a player deserved a technical he got (ex: Amare shoving Delonte) because I just think if it was KG or JO shoving a player people would be calling for their heads and saying they should be ejected & Breen, AWFUL to say the least. I remember in 1 game during the NBA finals he slipped up and called KG "Kevin GarNOTT" I was FURIOUS.

These guys all need to watch old Laker games with Chick Hearn calling them. That's the one thing about the Lakers organization that I have respect for, and it's Chick Hearn. He could call the hell out of a game.

I think they are all very good.  I really enjoy listening to that trio, I think it is up there with the MNF football crew as the best national sports crew.

Marc Jackson is bad, but he's tolerable atleast when your winning. My problem with Marc Jackson is the way he gushes over star players like Kobe, Lebron, Howard, etc. These players deserve a lot of praise, but the way he goes about it is just down right shameful. Other than the superstar butt licking he's ok to listen to, he can be funny especially when you team is the one putting in work.

I love JVG as an announcer because, IMO he's completely unbiased. He's straight forward and isn't afraid to go against the popular opinion or fellow announcers. He calls it how he sees it. IMO, people who don't like him are the people that think if an announcer doesn't side with the Celtics 70% of the time they're terrible.

Breen... Breen I hate.  IMO, the guy has a clear anti-celitc agenda. It's pretty obvious to me he's a closet-Laker fan after having to here him through 2 finals both series Laker D-riding. He loves throwing dirt on the Celtics whenever possible. With him it's the little things he says like "Baby with the acting job" or "Pierce selling that one". He takes little shots all the time and it's just gets on my Nerves.

These guys are the worst trio in the league. They are easily biased towards the Lakers and Heat at all times. When the Celtics are playing well its never about how well the Celtics are playing, its always about how the other team isn't playing well. And half the time they are talking about stuff that isn't even related to the game!

A major player will get 4 or 5 fouls, and they don't even realize or mention it, just keep chatting on about some unrelated crap. I still remember the Miami game when Lebron threw the ball at JO after a hard foul, Van Gundy didn't understand why they called a T on Lebron and said he had every right to throw the ball!

I do like Van Gundy at times, but some of the stuff he says is ridiculous!

When I watch games and am forced to listen to them, I seriously mute the TV and time the DVR just right so that I can get the live radio feed going instead.

And to the point that ABC doesn't do replays on questionable calls, I 100% agree, and it definitely ticks me off. They talk about it but never show it, only showing highlights of other plays.

Anyways, just my thoughts. Haven't posted in quite awhile, done with my rant..

I really, really, really can not stand Marv Albert.  I am sure it is because of the well publicized situation he got himself into, and I have tried to overlook it, but I always think "sleazy pervert" when I have to watch or listen to him.

On the other hand, I loved Bill Walton as a player, and can listen to him in regular conversation (sometimes long winded, but interesting, intelligent and humorous), but I just go into a coma when he is commentating on a game, jolting awake for the clever stuff and Grateful Dead asides.  Don't mind VanGundy or Jackson.  Could do without M. Breen.

Most of the others I can give or take, and sometimes I watch with no sound.  (As a Celtics fan, you have to like Mike and Tommy, even if Tommy's rants sometimes makes you cringe just a little...loved Johnny Most and still miss him...


Since I have been watching League Pass, I am amazed by the number of local announcers for various teams who have no clue about either the game or the players.

I like Van Gundy & Mark Jackson a lot. I also love hearing Hubie Brown and miss our very own Doc Rivers as a color analyst. Doug Collins was pretty good too. Sorry but I loath Bill Walton as a color man. I can't stand the long winded monologues and the way he often talks over the play by play to give me a stupid Dead reference. Just not my thing.
