Derrick Rose getting the MVP is a joke. A poor man's Allen Iverson.

A homeless man's Allen Iverson
I like Rose and will say he seems humble and has an overall nice personality the complete opposite of Iverson, but I've been thinking that for I don't know how long this season.

As much as people want to rag on Iverson he has influenced a lot of these young point guards whether it be bad or good and Rose seems a lot like Iverson. His being the MVP taking his team on his back to the finals role just seems similar to Iverson 2001(which was shockingly 10 years ago adn I remember that time all too well.)
Looking back though I do miss some of Iverson. He gave a lot of heart and left it on the court playing like it was his last. I just wish he could have grown and matured as a player and a person. He was good, but if he would have practiced more and changed his game while getting older to accomodate his age he would probably still be in the NBA and if he would have accepted a bench role on a contender with no problems he could still be playing too.

Big shots by Mike Miller ... love seeing him shoot the basketball.

Having a very nice game for Miami. Coming up with so many loose balls. Ran the fastbreak leading to the LeBron dunk and now he's draining jump shots. Lovely.

Jeez, the kid is 22.  He hasn't even hit his prime yet.

Allen Iverson at 22: 22 ppg, 6.2 assists per game, 3.1 turnovers, 46% FG shooting

Derrick Rose this season: 25 ppg, 7.7 assists per game, 3.4 turnovers, 44.5% FG shooting.

Give the kid time, he could end up being better than Iverson.

I'm not sure he'll be better than AI
AI had that skill only a few in history had. The court vision of a point guard, and the ability to score in bunches like a shooting guard. Plus he was a pretty good defender

Rose though, has almost no court vision, average passing skills. And even though Rose can score 30 a night, it takes 25 shots to get to that point. Not good if you ask me

The court vision, "seeing the court" is innate, not learned. All the famous playmakers like Bird, Lebron, Magic, Rondo, all had that at a young age

That's what's also sort of scary to think of. He's 22 and he has so much to learn and can become better. Durant is the same to me. He's also 22, but can become better and learn from this experience. Those two players  are extremely young and have so much to learn and grow from. I don't know if he'll be better than Iverson because I can't see the future and he also might become better than Iverson, but these young players are jsut growing and getting their feet wet in this stage of the playoffs for the first time.

Iverson was the same way though.  He always took a lot of shots.  He averaged 30 ppg one season but shot 39.8% from the field.  Also Rose averaged more assists per game this year than Iverson did in any season his entire career.  I like AI, but I think youre really over-rating him and under-rating Rose.
do it

This is a great game. Very enjoyable.

Both teams battling hard ... giving it their all.

Miami need to get Wade back in the game. Their offense is faltering right now.

Need his decisiveness.

Great job by Bosh to alter Rose's driving layup at the rim.

Made himself long and went straight up. Made it difficult and forced the miss.

I think Bosh might have gotten hit in the face by Boozer during the hard foul.

Mike Miller with two more big buckets in the fourth.

Four baskets in total in the quarter, 9 points.

This is the problem with small guards who are top offensive options on their teams.

You can switch a bigger wing (with great quickness) onto them and you can make their life miserable. It is much more difficult to find that jump shot, or driving shot, when a guy who is 3-8 inches bigger than you and probably another 2-6 inches longer than you on top of that.

You can also pack the paint with lots of length and make things even more difficult for a 6-0 to 6-3 guy to get his shot off in a crowd.

They (small guards, PGs, who are top offensive option on their team) are much easier to neutralize than a top wing player.

This is why I don't like Lebron
Uses his athleticism and strength, instead of the skill which he doesn't posses
