This thread put a big smile on my face. That quote eased my mind somewhat.

this is the same guy who said less than a week ago that they can't just expect to turn it on in the playoffs, this is a different team, so what changed between then and now?

Kind of interesting that a guy who couldn't get up for whatever reason for games agains't the Bull or the Heat, is all of a sudden going to turn it on in the playoffs.
Is it just me, or is there just something wrong with that whole concept?

strangely enough, I do to. I just wish he had said so a month ago so we wouldn't all be wasting time watching these games and freaking out over each loss

Add me to the list of believers. It's so painfully obvious when Rondo's not trying. Odd theory: maybe Rondo remembers being completely burnt out in the finals last year and is just saving himself. Whatever it is, its nice to hear some actual confidence because all I've been hearing from him and the team lately is "we've got to play with more urgency" with a dejected look on his face

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Rondo has always proven himself in the playoffs, so it certainly makes sense. Hopefully they can focus and 'care' again.

So are most people cool with Rondo "not trying" in so many games, most of them since his binky, Perk got traded? You all know I hate the trade, but Rondo's play since the trade has been overall unacceptable. Must really anger a guy like Pierce or KG who come with ferocity every night. Maybe Rondo is who Pierce was referring to after the game yesterday when he said he comes to compete hard every game, but unfortunately not everyone on the team does.

I don't think any of us likes it when Rondo doesn't play his hardest, but if he's conserving himself for the playoffs, and manages to come up big in the playoffs, we'll all forget about the regular season struggles.

I am not OK with it.  Although I have accepted it as a part of this teams personality.  And I also don't think it is just Rondo.  Ray has checked out just as much as Rondo has, and Pierce and KG, while not completely dogging it, have been picking their spots.

And don't get me started on Baby...

Basically, this team got away with last year, and now its part of the team culture.  It sucks, but there is not much we can do about it, other than hope that it doesn't end up biting them in the end.

B/c, I think that most people are fine with the idea that he shows up in the playoffs and does the job that everyone expects of him and the team wins.  If that happens, I could care less.  I certainly understand the rigors of an 82 game regular season that spans 5+ months.  Most guys aren't going to be able to bring it every night. I'm not gonna get fired up about it.  Now I do think that Rondo has disappeared too many times but success in the playoffs goes a long way in me overlooking that.

To me, the regular season has just been a warmup act for these guys.  Come April 16th-17th or so is when it begins for me.
