I thought this was a really weird quote from Rondo:

Quote
"It's not going to be on the Big Three, or Shaq, or J.O., or me," Rondo said. "It's going to be on those (new) guys why we win it all ... the main thing is you have to bring it every night. We're the Celtics, and teams are going to give us their best shot. I think it's a different type of level you have to bring when you play for the Celtics, and right now we're trying to get those guys to play at that level every day -- not just in the games, but in practice as well."

Link.

It seems like he's criticizing the new guys for their lack of effort, while exempting himself and the starters.  Very strange, since pretty much the entire team's play has been spotty.

He isn't the first to say this. I'm pretty sure Doc did, and possibly KG.

A guy like KG, I understand when he questions the effort of others.  He plays like a psycho every game.  Doc should similarly expect stellar effort.

Rondo?  I like the kid, but I'm not sure that he should be throwing stones about consistent effort, since he seems to be living in a pretty fragile glass house these days.

Regardless of who said it first, considering his disappearing act in some games of recent note, its a bit of the whole pot/kettle thing coming from him.

Yeah, the Celtics games generally consist of four players putting in maximum effort and Rondo standing around with his hands on his hips, right?

Are you denying that Rondo's effort has been spotty?  If not, then I would think that you would agree that it's a bit hypocritical for Rondo to be demanding max effort from others.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think we're criticizing Rondo on a quote that he said a while ago - before the losses to Chicago and Miami. It's well known that Rondo hasn't stuck around to talk to the media for some time now.

Ugh...given what happened to Delonte tonight, I wouldn't blame anyone right now for not playing their hardest on games that don't really matter.

I'm so excited for this team to erupt in the playoffs. When Shaq returns, it's gonna be a whole different team.

I'm saying the whole team's effort has been a little spotty. I don't know that Rondo's effort has been that much worse than everyone elses.

I'm strangely reminded of that great quote from Dazed and Confused

I don't like their play right now and I'm worried.  However, they proved they could do it last year, so I wouldn't give up hope yet.

They didn't prove a Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ned thing last year

How many times have they said they are ready? After the Chicago game didn't they say the same about going into the Miami game. Easy to say Rondo but I would prefer some action behind those words. Let down too many times.

Also plays into the sense of his lingering bitterness over the Perk trade.
