I don't trust this team right now going into the playoffs. But there is no guarantee that Boston ever gets healthy...shaq ..you don't know....how much can Jo give? Murphy going to do anything? I like baby but I am tired of him shooting like he is the first option.

I guess the difference from last year is this.season there are too many new pieces.

The good thing is that there are no back-to-backs in the playoffs, let alone road back-to-backs.

exactly.
a day off for these guys is crucial at their age.
we had a good showing..couldn't finish the job. played  really good half and got monstered inside again with no starting center.
Please wait for our full starting lining up and give them at least a playoff series together before you start completely giving up on this team.
We still haven't had a game since All Star break with our complete starting five.

You make good points.

We'll have to see what happens in the playoffs, looks like it's all up to the O'Neal bros now.

Last year we dominated the eastern conference for half a season before injuries slowed us down. This year we did it for nearly 3/4 of the season before injuries/the perk trade got us into a slump. It hurts to see the team lose out on the 1st seed after seeing them atop the standings for most of the season, but that's just how it is for "old" teams i guess. We saw how the C's played on a different level in the playoffs last season as compared to their regular season performance. Hopefully they could do that again this year.
What bothers me is their bench.  It's played poorly. (case in point Pavlovic's dumb a-- foul on J Johnson shooting a 3) I also worry that it's soft.

I know Doc's going with a short rotation in the playoffs, but they need something out of these guys or they're sunk.

Agree completely.

Trade was supposed to make the bench stronger.

They've been a nightmare so far, putting all the work on the Big 3 for most games.

But the Celtics age is really showing. They get too tired in the 4th quarters and can't score anymore, just like in game 7 of the finals.

Looks like these Celtics will be remembered like the Detroit Pistons of a few years ago.

I hate being such a drama queen, anyone can prove me otherwise?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we're going to be remembered like the '04 Pistons.  I guess there are worse comparisons that could be made.  But this will always be the team that was good enough to get one but not good enough to be a dynasty.  We had opportunities, but the truth is the Big 3 got together just a bit too late in their careers to win multiple times.

Not to mention the fact that Chris Wallace made one of the worst trades in the history of the NBA and shifted the balance of power in the NBA for years to come.  The Lakers were pretty much guaranteed to win multiple championships once they got Gasol without giving up any meaningful pieces.

Starting to look the way.

But we gotta believe till it's over.

Let's see what happens in the playoffs. Regular season has rarely meant anything.

So, my question to both of you is - based off of what you see - are the Celtics done this year?

I already know what my answer is.

Right after a back-to-back road loss in Atlanta is a terrible time to make statements about where this team will end up in the history books.

Tonight's game was not a playoff series.  We have not been eliminated yet.

Absolutely not, they aren't done until they exit from the playoffs.

But there are a LOT of red flags popping up lately, and it's very concerning.

Okay, ask yourself this--the playoffs aren't round robin games, they are 7 game series. Do you think this team is going to lose 4 out of seven games to the same team? We're about 30 games over .500 and have only lost a season series to how many teams? 1?

Welcome to the club :).

I saw a lot of red flags last year at this time, too.

I honestly believed that last season's playoffs were the most challenging I watched as a Celtics Fan. But with each win vs CLE, then ORL, and then LA - oh so close, our Celtics.

April 17 is coming. Boston is primed for another nice, long run to June. To me, it doesn't matter what we see right now.

The games must be played - and that is the beauty of it.

I haven't seen anything to give me reason to believe they'll go farther than last year.  I think best case scenario is they somehow string together another magical run to the Finals and put up a good fight.

But most likely they bow out after a hard fought battle in the second round or conference finals.  It's true that last year going into the playoffs it looked even more likely that they'd lose in the second round.  But what happened last year was a really unlikely run. . . . and they still couldn't go all the way, no matter how close they came.

Ah! But what a run it was....it was a run that 28 other teams wish they had....a run that gives Boston much respect to this day.

On ESPN and NBATV? Well, now - instead of counting out Boston, most commentators reference last year - and rightfully so.

To me, the glass is half full, with Green Kool-Aid...and make mine sweet...just like the kid in the House Party movie. ;D

In the east? I think we can win
VS the Lakers? No, I don't think we can. LA is a better team then Boston.
