If Rondo keeps playing like that, trade him!

Hey, I am a big Celtics fan like everyone else here. BUT, I have no problem saying that Rondo drives me crazy with the way he plays!!

He doesn't take care of the ball and thinks he's alot smarter than he really is.

He played horrible last night...HORRIBLE. So bad that because of him and his 3,000 turnovers, the Celts almost lost to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Unexcusable. I also don't have any issue saying that I can think of at least 10 point guards in the NBA I'd rather have than Rondo.

Rondo needs to be the on-court leader, however plays like anything but and his shooting is horrible.

For those who say that I just started this forum as a reaction to last night, think again. I've felt this way about Rondo FOR A LONG TIME!

It's very difficult to even suggest shopping a very popular player around here. Even after playing like crud.

Even if the team trades a very good, popular, and productive player for backups you can't even say you don't buy the stated reasons for the trade.

Trust me. I've learned this the hard way.

Around here the best way to deal with trades is keep your mouth shut, take it, and just be like "Yes. The country is at war with Asia this week. And the trade was good"

And yes I do think this was in reaction to a bad game. Try starting this thread after he plays his normal 12 point 15 assist 6 rebound 3 steal game (which he has 8/10 games).

He's not perfect but in no way are there 10 point guards I would rather have.

Ask any player for the Celtics off the record how they feel about rondo and i bet they tell you the same thing they do on the record, they love playing with this guy.

The pass first point guard is a dying breed. Paul Pierce scores 20 ppg with hardly any isos anymore. Ray Allen shoots more open, in rhythm threes than any time in his career. KG benefits from Rondo passes to shoot 3-4 WIDE open 18 footers a game. Nenad Krstic looks like he is in a lay up line on the Celtics. Jeff Green scored 23 points the other night without one play run for him. I love DRose but I am willing to ber that this offense is not as good with him on the team instead of Rondo. We have enough scorers (even more after the trade).

Watch the Miami Heat play, and their non-existent offense and tell me that team would not be DOMINANT with a guy like Rondo quarterbacking the O.

I understand he played absolutely awful last night. The worst Ive seen him play in a while. They still won.

Yes Chris Paul is better, Deron Williams is better. Derrick Rose is probably better. But for this team, with all of their weapons, I am happy, no thrilled to have one of the best 1-2 passing point guards in the NBA running the team.

Every game? Maybe one or two in ten. Come on guys. Just one game ago, 16 assists to only 3 turnovers and 5 steals. Two games ago, 15 assists to only 1 turnover with 3 steals.

You like how he finds the open man yet do not like his passing skills. He definitely goes for the high degree of difficulty pass that 99% of point guards wouldnt even try. That is when he gets in trouble. He needs to cut that out of his game but trading him? Giving up on him?

I just dont see it.

Also it seems like for every bad game Rondo has, people seem to magically forget anything else he's done before that. He's going through a bad stretch, but he's been statistcally great all season.

rondo seems sad on the court. He said Perk was his "best friend", so it could very well be tied into the trade. His sloppiness with the ball has really gotten bad since the trade.

Give up on him in hoping he improves to the level where I can actually praise him. But if a good deal comes along I wouldn't hesitate to trade him. He really hasn't shown me the capability to be a player to build around for the future, unless he transforms when he doesn't have all the talent surrounding him.

Assist totals don't impress me, particularly when playing against poor defensive teams. But again, he has a knack to find open men, which is not the same as delivering constant accurate passes and timing them well (though he has improved greatly in the latter this year). He does lob passes well though.

But it's the same story since year 1 with us. Needs to penetrate more, needs to play better defense, stay with his man better, put more constant effort. Aside from the technicalities above, these are the things that if he could do on a more consistent basis... things he has control over, I'd be a happy man.

I can understand the frustration. For sure Rondo’s play can be maddening at times. He’s  a reckless gambler who allows far too much guard penetration. That being said, I think he’s the perfect point guard for this team. I couldn’t imagine many other point guards running the offense as effectively as he does. Gotta take the good with the bad.

Wow ... sorry, but I just don't agree with this at all! This kid is becoming one of the best PGs in the game, and before he's through, will probably be one of the best of all time ... and you want to trade him because he's had a couple of bad games and needs improvement in places?!?

We got a bargain on this amazing player, and he is already the best, least selfish facilitator in the game. Of all the athletes in the NBA right now, there are very few others that I would rather build a "team" around, and by team I mean an unselfish, ball-sharing, running, passing, defensive, cohesive unit.

Other teams and coaches are drooling over what an amazing passer and facilitating Point Guard he is, and the potential that he has yet to reach, and you want to get rid of him and cut the heart out of what runs this team and holds it together? Sorry, but trading Rondo would be about the worst thing we could do.

I think Rondo will always be a frustrating player, but that's part of the appeal with him, as it was with Antoine.

He doesn't just rack up the assists against poor teams though. Some of his assits totals against good defenses:

The only point guards that are in Rondo's neighbourhood are Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Steve Nash and Jason Kidd.

In my opinion, you only trade Rondo if you get Paul or Williams in return. Nash is unbelievable but age is a big question, and even more with J-Kidd. Chris Paul's health is an issue, also.

Derrick Rose is a 1-on-1 ballhog, as Tyreke Evans. He's no floor general, and I'd rather have Dwayne Wade. If Stephen Curry could learn how to be a pass-first PG, he would be a great player to get.

Russell Westbrook??? maybe.

I'm happy with Rondo.
