I'd think he'd want to come to a contender right now.  He'd not be leaving all that much money on the table, plus he'd get a playoff share too.  Cleveland will still have plenty of money this summer.  In fact, they won't be getting any A-listers to go there, so Brewer could easily take their money this summer.
He will have opportunities in the future to play for a title if he wants to give up money. Right now he needs minutes to develop for the sake of future contracts.
In my view, it's far from a given that he'll have future opportunities to play for a title.  Some really great players never get a legit shot at it.  He'd lose little and perhaps gain a lot by signing with a real contender.  You think a couple months on the Cavs is really going to be great for his development?  I think deep playoff experience would be much better for him.

Could be a great fit for our team. West is really a backup for Rondo and Von Wafer project has been a failure. Brewer is like a taller Tony Allen. Tenacious defender

Brewer could also reunite with his old buddies Al Horford or Joakim Noah.

My prediction is the Bulls will have the best chance to grab him and also lock him up for the long term. They are a good young upcoming team and he is good friends with Noah

With the celtics he is running a risk being buried into the bench and backtracking his career, especially having a guy like doc as his coach

Woah, what?

First you say Wafer's been a failure, even though I think that's very untrue. Once he learned to play defense, he became a much better asset off the bench.

But, if you honestly think Wafer's been a failure, why do you think Corey Brewer would be buried behind the bench? He's a SG, you know. Who would he be competing with for minutes as a backup SG? Delonte is really a backup for Rondo, same for Avery, except he's 3rd on the PG depth chart. That leaves Von Wafer. You really think Wafer sucks but that Brewer couldn't win minutes over him, especially considering Brewer has a reputation for his defense, one of the things Doc always plays guys for?

If Brewer really is the defender everyone says he is, he could easily be the backup SG in the rotation. I dunno if he really has "12 or 13" options like Sam Amick was reporting, but I'm not surprised he has a lotta contenders, including the Celtics, interested in him.

As long as they are bought out before or on March 1st...they can sign anytime before the playoffs, I think. If they are bought out after March 1, they can still sign and play the regular season games...but not in the playoffs.

He's 6' 9" is he really a shooting guard? I always considered him a 3. With the signing of Green I think he would most likely be backing up Pierce and Green.

He's 188 pounds, and ESPN lists him as a SG. In comparison, Ray Allen is 205 pounds Von Wafer is 209 pounds.

The fact he's 6'9" possibly contributes to why he's so good at D.

mehh.. kobe is 6'7" and so is rip hamilton. Yet Pierce is 6'6" and plays SF. height and weight don't matter as much as people claim it does.

Yes, playing in games is better than watching the playoffs from the bench in a suit. Cavs would be fine for his development. He will be playing real games against NBA players.

It is easy for decent players to get legit shots at titles if they take a below market contract to move to a contender.

Brewer would not be coming here for Posey type minutes. He would likely get somewhere between Pruitt minutes and the kind of minutes Quis got last year.

I really hope we get Brewer.

If we can get Rondo/Green/Brewer out on the floor together we would be MONSTERS in transition offense, those three young guys would destroy slow teams like the Lakers.

I can just see it now, Celtics would have some real athletic guys.

Yes, they would be a great running trio, and Rondo would thrive if he had guys that could run the floor. But imagine having a back court where your two guards cannot shoot.

We should all be used to it from the Tony Allen days, right?  Tony was a better scorer, but an inferior shooter to Brewer.

Brewer has improved his shot significantly while Rondo has improved on his midrange game. I'm confident in those two making open shots. Meanwhile, the defense those two would bring is crazy!!
