Brewer pays way too much attention to defense to fit in to D'Antoni's system.  Horrible fit in NY.  Actually, I don't see how Billups fits there either.

Need a PG a lot worse than another 3.  Rondo's playing too many minutes.

It's going to be pretty ironic if we trade away our starting center to sign a small forward, and then the best player we're able to land in the buyout market ends up being a wing.

Perk + Brewer > Green + Krstic, in my mind.

Agreed.

But it's 100% hindsight. Who knew if he was going to be bought out and who knows if he'd be willing to sign with Boston?

Brewer would be a nice addition.  But I think our depth hurts us here.  It'd be tough to convince him he'll get substantial minutes here.

Maybe.   But, it's also true that players benefit from exposure, even in limited minutes, on a top team (read: Tony Allen).  This Celtics team will re-establish a down the stretch/playoff rotation over the next few weeks based on performance.  Guys coming in will get a chance to play -- and they'll have a chance to earn time.  All of them are confident enough in their abilities to think they will earn time if given the chance.

WE NEED BIGS.

True, but I would still like him on the Celtics.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Is Perk + Brewer + Nate > Green + Krstic + Brewer?

I don't think so, particularly with health thrown into the equation.

What makes you believe that Boston will sign Brewer? Or was it a typo?

But yes, I'd still take Perkins + Brewer + Nate.

Your undervaluing Jeff Green if that's the case. He's a 24 yr old stud and right on pace to be great in this league for years to come. Plus, he's healthy. It's more like :

Our current roster > old roster

True.  But other teams can give them exposure too.  Brewer might work out, but guys like Murphy and Bibby would likely see more PT and get even more exposure in Miami.

I'd also question how much publicity Brewer will get if his butt is glued to the bench all playoffs.  And that's a realistic possibility if Doc is serious about getting Green serious PT without cutting into BBD's minutes.
