People need a little bit of a wake up here, so I'm going to throw some facts out.  If you agree, hit me with a TP or comment.
1) The year we won, in the Lakers series, Perk averaged 18.2 MPG.  PJ Brown averaged 19.5.  He played MORE than Perk, and Posey averaged 25.166 MPG, playing the most.  We closed out games with Posey at the four the stretch the court and give Rondo room to work with.
2) The Lakers beat us twice by sagging off Rondo, and using Perks man to clog the paint even further and not allow Rondo to get inside.  It killed us, and stagnated out offense.
3) Posey was a career 35.0% 3pt shooter.  Green is younger, taller, more athletic, and shoots 33.8% from the 3pt line.  Seems like an improvemtn to m.
4) Krstic is a much better player than people are giving him credit for.  He's not fantastic, not as good as Perk, but he is a servicable, decently talenented, offensively minded 7-footer.  We can use him.

I love Perk and hate to see him go, but stop bashing this move.  It makes sense short and long term.

Please go look at the one game Perk missed that series.  You know, the only game that Gasol killed the Celtics and the Celtics lost.
please go look at the production of the bench in that game. a grand total of 6 points. lack of depth killed the c's. they were up 13 with 15 mins to go and ran out of gas b/c they had to play ray/paul/onep-legged kg 40+ mins a night for the entire playoffs. people always point to perkins missing but the c's also couldnt score for the last 7 mins of the finals. that's were they lost the game....

Really?  If he was that injured, then this trade will end up being rejected when he fails the physical.

I remember Pierce was completely exhausted at the end of the game and he was turning the ball over. He actually looked red in the face. It's great that the Cs have depth at all positions now.

Incase you didn't know Perkins is injured and would fail a physical right now.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
It's over with if we don't get some solid bigs via buyouts.

The longer I think about the trade the worst it sounds.

Are we seriously going to have to count on an Old Shaq and washed up JO?

He has a minor injury that teams know the time frame for.

You think the Thunder didn't have the doctors double check this injury?   If it was anything more (like you are hinting at with the done for the season comment), they would reject the trade.

Yeah, I haven't seen this anywhere, but am I the only one waiting to see if Perk passes his physical?

When I say.. "done for the season" .. it's because He won't be able to perform at a championship level due to all his injuries for an entire year.

Perk will be a monster next year, when he can go through camp and such.. but this year, he is done.

His play was at a level that made most happy.

Obviously this trade hurts emotionally due to the effort and dedication that Perk brought to the team. Does it affect our chances of winning a championship? No one can say, unless you can predict the future. Same applies to last season's championship, having Perk on the floor may or may not have put us over the top. Putting emotions aside, after this season Perk would have walked and signed elsewhere and we would have gotten nothing to replace him. Depending on who else the Celtics bring in to fill in the remaining roster spots, I still like our chances and I do not echo the negativity that is out there right now.

4-3 with Perk in the starting line-up.  Not good.

An injured center consistently getting blocked by point guards, not making any of us happy.

I can't believe there are so many replies on this post that agree that "our season is over and Danny is stupid, he ruined us." It really bites that we had to let Perk go, he seemed like a legitimately great guy in spite of all the scowling, but the trades make sense. I can deal with Laker and Heat fans mouthing off and pitying us, but it really grinds my gears when other Celts fans mope as though all hope is lost. It isn't! We need to wait and see!

The trade has destroyed this team.

1) We wont have home court advantage against the east.
2) We wont have home court advantage vs the west, or the Lakers.
3) Shaq and JO both will never be healthy at the same time and available.
4) Our defense took a huge hit that we wont be able to replace.
5) We cant beat LA without HCA.
6) Getting out of the east will be extremely hard.
7) Teams can bully us in the paint and are not afraid of us anymore.

Stick a fork in this team, they are done.
We had everything going until Danny decided to blow it up.

Feel free to quote this post in the future if the C's win it all, but that is pretty much impossible now.

Are we really going to win with this guy?

Getting out of the East won't be the difficult problem, since nobody has the size to take advantage of us anyways. The only way this hurts us is if we meet L.A in the finals, whom won't get there anyways. I still think we will maintain homecourt throughout the playoffs. If I were Ainge I might of just let Perk go at the end of the year, so he didn't have to hurt our Finals chances. All in all, it was an alright trade.
