We just gave away half our team, of course they are done for the season

please....

the C's gave up a starting center and a bunch of end of the bench players and acquired a borderline all star and a future 1st rd pick(possibly in the lottery 11-15).

was semih, harongody or Daniels going to help us at all in the playoffs? the answer is no. Semih has been struggling with injuries all year, harongody wasn't seeing any action and Daniel is likely out the remainder of the season , and Nate has been horrible this year.

overreaction? yea, i'd say so.

i'm pretty sure the c's have the 2nd best record in the nba (and doing so w/out perkins for the entire season may i add). i love perkins too but people are allowing their personal emotions to interact with their analytical functions. just like they did with leon powe. and james posey. and eddie house.

rondo. allen. pierce. KG. they are the only players the c's cant do without. everyone else is replaceable as far as i'm concerned.

you must be nuts if you think the c's are "done." this team is still a top 3 team in the east. shaq will be back next week. DA said JO will be back in april. either way, the c's are gonna sign at least 2 players to help with the depth at the center position.

just take a chill pill and see what DA has up his sleeve before burying this team...

"...Teams are going to attack us inside without any problem and KG is just going to be seen as a weak target without big bad Perk to protect him. I just cant believe this."

Lols, it's not like we traded away Waka Flocka Flame or something, though I will admit that I'm sad that Perkins is no longer with the Celtics. It would have been amazing if we could have somehow kept Perkins and still ended up with Jeff Green as a backup to Paul Pierce but I guess you can't always have your cake and eat it  :(

Nenad Kristic is a healthy 7-footer who shoots well from the foul line and decent from the field. I'm not sure how well he will do defensively now that he plays for the Boston Celtics however I doubt that he will be a pushover (see Mikki Moore cira 2009  :-[). Did I mention the fact that he is a healthy 7-footer  ???

^as long as our bench has improved from where we were in 2009 (Powe gone, Garnett injured + Tony Allen a non-factor in the playoffs, etc.) we'll be fine. Man do I miss House and Scal sometimes...  ;)

^Thank heavens we kept this guy  ;D

lets step away from the edge folks.

I'm going to miss perk as much as anyone (especially his incomparable work ethic). but he hasn't played that much this year and we are still a dominant defensive team with the second best record in the league.
I am surprised that danny has as much faith in shaq's healthy return as he does but i trust that he wouldn't make this deal with out a great deal of confidence in shaq's ability to contribute down the stretch.

the rest of the pieces shipped out amount to zilch come play offs. we just replaced the end of the bench with 2 legit NBA starters and created room to add more depth.
Jeff Green is a stud, 6'9 with a 7'1 wingspan, a well developed offensive game and the tools to become a good defender. If the transition is smooth he and baby will be battling for 6th man of the year votes.

i'm gonna miss perk and i hold out hope that he finds his way back here after the season but i'm actually pretty confident in the on court results of this trade.

I agree. As long as KG can play the Celtics defense will be fine. All the talk about this trade is speculation. You just can not predict how it's going to pan out.

At first I thought it had to be a joke. But I don't think it was so much because of the deal, but just because I never thought they would trade Perkins, and he's been with the Celtics for so long and is so much part of their identity. I don't feel too bad about it now, which I think is a good sign. I think people's emotions are all tied up in to too, because everybody loves Perkins, but he might be overrated, and Green might be underrated. I think it's difficult to say. The Celtics get the best out of their players; I really believe that.

Green can rebound- he's tall and athletic. Kristic can rebound and he can hold it down until Shaq gets back. If anything I think this trade helps with rebounding.

The only concern is the low post defense, however I don't think it is as bad as people are making out. The Celtics have some different options with post defense. Baby is strong and short, Shaq is bulky, slow and tall, KG is quick tall and thin. I'm sure Green and Kristic can help out as well. The Celtics have different types of players to throw at post offense.

The other thing is.. A little part of me is satisfied Perkins did not get to have his cake and eat it too. He wanted big money, and also wanted to be on the Celtics just for this season for another shot at a championship. His attitude seemed to be changing a little bit with all the talk of his value. I wish Perkins stayed the same guy on the same team. I love players like that, but it looked like it was changing, you could see it, and in a way I'm glad this is now something Celtics fans don't have to worry about any more.

To the radio crowd and the pink hats, I will gladly take your tickets for the rest of the season. Losing Perk sucks but losing KG in 2009 was much more devistating and we still almost beat Orlando. Jalen Rose doesn't play anymore, Chris Brousard never did. Doc won a title with an unknown center and a raw point guard. If I see Dalembert or Cambridge walk through this door we made a huge gamble that paid off big, please stop Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing till March 1st, thanks

This is the single most ridiculous thread topic I have EVER seen on this blog (and that says a lot)!

Semih has been hurt for awhile, and is not a particularly good or productive player.  Harangody was bad and Chris Johnson is already a better replacement.

Which brings us to Perkins:  The Celtics were the BEST team in the league for the first half of the season (considering they beat San Antonio w/o KG), and Perkins wasn't playing.  While I can agree that Perkins is valuable, to say that the best team (when he wasn't playing) is all of a sudden "done" is absurd.  Especially considering they just picked up a bench wing-player who is better than any bench wing player they've had this year.  Throw the fact that Delonte is back and getting the cobwebs shaken off, and the "done" statement seems even more ridiculous.  I suggest you stop watching the Celtics then.

Get real, only fair weather fans leave their team at the drop of a hat or losing a few players in a trade.  I guess peeps have to ask themselves are they Perk fans or Celtic fans.  I am a Celtic fan and think we will trudge on.  You can't expect the team to perform well after a shocker like that.  One second he was at the shootaround and the next he isn't a Celtic.  I expected us to lose for that reason.  I think the shock is over now and we will be ok.

I am worried about bigs depth though.  But one has to think that Danny has something up his sleeve otherwise it doesn't make as much sense.

BTW, folks we were the 2nd best team without Perk and the Spurs have the better record still.

done? we're just getting started - trading a guy who has been injury plagued for a young stud of a bridge player in Green may turn out to be Danny's best post-big 3 acquisition move.  Imagine if Perk doesn't recover, how happy we'll be to be rid of him.  And the team was just fine before he came back, I'm optomistic

Please tell me who from this roster will and can defend against Dwight and Bynum?

And who else is available in the free agency department that can fill in Perks shoes!?

Nobody can in the league is better to replace Perks. No one.

So sorry to us guys. No more banner 18 this year. Let's all just go home.

Oh god

Perk has nothing to do this season with getting us the best record in the east, hes done next to nothing but stagnate our offeense since returning from injury

Loved him, still will root for him but i am gonna puke if i have to hear our title hopes are squashed bc we traded a guy who has hardly played this year...lol

if all goes to plan, Eric Dampier will defend Howard and the injury bug will take care of Bynum =)

but really if the celtics see the Magic, you neutralize Howard as much as you can with center by committee (Baby, Nenad, The O'Neals and player X)- 30 fouls to give, make him work for every point, maybe poke his eye out, that sort of thing

The Lakers are scary, yes, if they make the finals.  You have to beat them by being aggressive on offense, getting guys in foul trouble, that sort of thing.

One good thing about Nenad is he can stretch the floor on offense and keep guys like Howard and Bynum honest, opening up Rondo even more

I think all you need to combat the Bynum/Gasol combo is sheer height and brute strength. Lakers fans are acting real smug and cocky about this trade, but Shaq and Krystic are both very tall, and if we get Pryzbilla then that will be even better. Remember the cavs killed them with Shaq and Big Z last season.

The magic and Howard don't really scare me anyway, but I think the Celtics have enough to throw at him. I honestly think we're good.
