Murphy is a good rebounder (a glass cleaner, below the rim type of rebounder, he won't get rebounds out his area or on the offensive glass), a good passer for a big, especially from the high post, a very good shooter, especially shooting the transition/trailer straight up 3. He's decent driving to the rim from mid/high post if you put slower players on him too.
However, he's so bad defensively that he needs to
a) not being matched up with quality offensive players
b) shoot a lot
to have a positive impact in the game. Murphy with a USG% below 20% is a negative on the court. So, even though he can't help a bit, he won't have a huge impact as a backup big for any contender. In fact, considering his contractual situation, I'm sceptical that he'll join a contender.
