troy murphy is washed up and injured. he cant even crack the NETS lineup... no way Ainge should pursue this guy. id rather have him go to miami or orlando because it'll make them easier to beat since this guy cant play D for his life

I wouldn't dismiss him just based off the work he's done with a directionless New Jersey team. He's coming off a 14 & 10 season and then was injured. I don't think thats enough to consider him 'washed up.' Would absolutely LOVE to have the guy on my team.

He apparently has some type of riff with Avery Johnson that was keeping him from getting minutes!

Murphy will be traded to the Warriors for Dan Gadzuric and Brandan Wright, The Bergen Record reports.

Recommendation: The move is part of a larger three-team deal that will send Deron Williams to New Jersey. Murphy has been handcuffed in New Jersey, playing just 18 games and averaging just 16 minutes per game. A move to Golden State should open the door for much more playing time, and if an impatient owner in your league cut him loose, he could be worth adding.

I think he can be a pretty goo fit for Golden State
He will get tons of stats there

Golden State is going to buy him out and make him a free agent, or so the media says.

Troy Murphy would be a great option for this team this year and next. Offensively he'd put up more points than Semih,Shaq and JO combined, and when/if BBD leaves next season, he could slide right into that 6th man role for us.

He can shoot. He can rebound. and he can move quickly up and down the court for his size. He's like Keith Van Horn v.2.0 as a better PF
Can't stop, Rondo!

He's a 6'10 version of Luke Harangody.

A 6'10 version of Luke Harangody that happened to average a double double for half of his NBA season.

A 6'10" Harangody WOULD average a double double.  I actually think that is an apt description.  The only thing keeping Harangody from being a borderline all-star is his lack of size, and the only thing keeping Murphy from being a multiple all-star is that he could never stay healthy.

Harangody as a borderline all star? Now, I've read it all.

LOL! I seriously fell out of my chair laughing and im still laughing as I type this when that guy suggested that Harangody had the potential to be a borderline all star.

All-Stars and everything Harangody isnt and never will b. Harangody honestly doesent even look like a basketball playe

I 100% agree with Chris. Borderline is the key word. Troy Murphy in the right system would probably get into an all-star game. David Lee made an all-star game with a very similar game. :)

Edited<. no need to call other oppinions .<

Washed up? He's played 9 years in the league and is 30 years old.

Injured? Yes, he got injured. He's now ready to play.

Couldn't crack the rotation in NJ? Sorry but Avery Johnson isn't an idiot and didn't want to bother trotting Murphy on the court just for fun seeing as he's trying to develop his youth.

Can't play D for his life? No, he's never made an All-Defensive team and he isn't an elite one-one-one defender. He is however a solid TEAM defender - which is what the Celtics are all about. He's not a classic shot blocker but he'll block a shot here and there and he plays passing lanes well.

He seemed to do well under our old friend Jim Obrien's direction - literally a walking double-double who can spread the floor with his shot.

Sign this guy up.

If he goes to Miami - aka our competition - I wouldn't like that at all.

Personally, I haven't seen this guy play more than like 5 times in the past 3 seasons other than on the occasional highlight (the tip against LA).

He was (back when he actually played) a better than average center IMO. Won't get abused on the boards, but won't snag them over great rebounders. Has range on his shot, but basically no post-game. Defense left a lot to be desired, but with the right system, everyones flaws can be masked.

If the Celtics do a 2-for-1 for a legit SF, I guess we can grab him (or 'Sheed) for depth. But I hope he isn't DA's big plan.

In short, wherever he goes, he won't be the difference-maker.

I dont even know if I used the right name lol!!!!

Can you guys fill me on this Troy Murphy character? I pride myself in knowing the NBA and it's players but I have never seen this guy play. Is he young, is he old? Can he play? Does he play defense? Millions of questions come to mind. From what i've read Boston and Miami are the top suiters for him after he is bought out. Just looking for some insight from someone who may be a fan or follower of him.

If you've never seen Troy Murphy play it's possible you've only been paying attention during the Playoffs ;)

Quote
With Jamal Crawford making the playoffs with Atlanta in 2010, Murphy now holds the dubious honour of having played the most regular-season games in the NBA without ever making a playoff appearance.

I was just looking at his numbers from last year.
guys offensive numbers were impressive.

he would be a big addition, especially on the defensive boards.

Surely we can now offer him just as big a role as what Miami could?
