I dont even know if I used the right name lol!!!!

Can you guys fill me on this Troy Murphy character? I pride myself in knowing the NBA and it's players but I have never seen this guy play. Is he young, is he old? Can he play? Does he play defense? Millions of questions come to mind. From what i've read Boston and Miami are the top suiters for him after he is bought out. Just looking for some insight from someone who may be a fan or follower of him.

Really?  You've never heard of Troy Murphy?  Goofy-looking fellow, went to Notre Dame?  Been in the league for what, nine years now?  Five seasons where he's averaged a double-double?

And you watch the NBA, you say?  ;)

Good rebounder and a decent shooter: mid range and has some 3 point pop.

He's a 6'10 version of Luke Harangody.

... and if we had to let go of Luke to make a roster space for Murphy, I'd let go of "Baby Heinsohn" in a heartbeat.

... and the player that seemingly everyone in the world projected us to take over Kedrick Brown in the 2001 Draft.  That draft was supposed to be Johnson, Murphy, and Parker, dang it!  (Not that he was the best choice, but he was a good player, and he was heavily linked to the team.)

Murphy is a good rebounder (a glass cleaner, below the rim type of rebounder, he won't get rebounds out his area or on the offensive glass), a good passer for a big, especially from the high post, a very good shooter, especially shooting the transition/trailer straight up 3. He's decent driving to the rim from mid/high post if you put slower players on him too.

However, he's so bad defensively that he needs to
a) not being matched up with quality offensive players
b) shoot a lot
to have a positive impact in the game. Murphy with a USG% below 20% is a negative on the court. So, even though he can't help a bit, he won't have a huge impact as a backup big for any contender. In fact, considering his contractual situation, I'm sceptical that he'll join a contender.

A 6'10 version of Luke Harangody that happened to average a double double for half of his NBA season.

Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

A 6'10" Harangody WOULD average a double double.  I actually think that is an apt description.  The only thing keeping Harangody from being a borderline all-star is his lack of size, and the only thing keeping Murphy from being a multiple all-star is that he could never stay healthy.

That and he lacked the athleticism to be a bigger defensive or offensive force.

Harangody as a borderline all star? Now, I've read it all.

I wouldn't dismiss him just based off the work he's done with a directionless New Jersey team. He's coming off a 14 & 10 season and then was injured. I don't think thats enough to consider him 'washed up.' Would absolutely LOVE to have the guy on my team.

via yahoo fantasy.

And dont worry mods. I already pick him for the crotors

 Wed, Feb 23

Murphy will be traded to the Warriors for Dan Gadzuric and Brandan Wright, The Bergen Record reports.

Recommendation: The move is part of a larger three-team deal that will send Deron Williams to New Jersey. Murphy has been handcuffed in New Jersey, playing just 18 games and averaging just 16 minutes per game. A move to Golden State should open the door for much more playing time, and if an impatient owner in your league cut him loose, he could be worth adding.
