I'm so glad the Red Sox broke the bank this off-season so that they could improve by (maybe) 1 or 2 wins this season.  They currently have 88 wins.  Last season they finished with 89.  My guess is they'll finish this year with 90.

Maybe if they broke the bank the right way this off-season by going after pitching where they haven't been strong since 07 they wouldn't finish around where they did last year.

Pitching wins they should know that.

Indeed.  Unless you're the Yankees and you build your stadium to be really easy to hit homers.

Well, if they are trying to escape the humiliation of post season play, their epic failure might be in vain anyway.   ;)

I would actually be kind of disappointed for Detroit if the Sox somehow made it to the post-season and got a few solid starts from their pitchers and advanced.  The Tigers totally deserve to be playing in October.  The Sox don't.

I am sitting here and feeling very guilty and philosophical.  I am wearing a Rays Rally  tee shirt and rooting for the Red Sox!  Is my mind twisted, or what? My only excuse is that I love a good struggle...love to see effort..

Life is about the struggle.  Effort and perseverance,...

May the best team win!

Sorry but I dont understand this.  How exactly do we not deserve to be in the playoffs?  Because we've played like crap the past couple weeks?  Our record is what it is (playoff worthy) because we earned it.  We were the best team in the league for the majority of the year.  A lot of people seem to have a very short memory.

It isn't a sprint, it is a marathon.  The Red Sox are still in the lead for Wild  Card.  Who ever is standing when the dust settles will deserve to be there.

The Red Sox haven't played like a team that deserves to go far in the playoffs.  Both physically and mentally they have been extremely deficient.  They've been a historically bad team the past month or two.

The Red Sox don't have a chance of going far in the post-season with the roster the way it is right now.  I'd feel bad for the Tigers if the Sox got hot and managed to win a 5 game series in the ALDS.  The Tigers have a better chance of upsetting the Yanks, Rangers, Phillies etc.

I wish the Red Sox would just go home already.  Forfeit the remaining games and go home.  Nobody wants to watch them choke any more, and they clearly don't want to play anymore.
