  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Here is a list of backup two guards in the Pick II draft

Quote
Marcus Thornton, Tony Allen, Christian Eyenga, Sam Young, Raja Bell, OJ Mayo, Rasual Butler, Marco Belinelli, Ben Gordon, Mickael Pietrus, Martell Webster, Delonte West, Wes Johnson, Anthony Parker, Pooh Jeter, Leandro Barbosa, Paul George, Brandon Rush, Gary Neal, Courtney Lee, Anthony Morrow, Rudy Fernandez, Marquis Daniels, DeShawn Stevenson, Willie Green, Jodie Meeks, Andre Miller, Kyle Korver
Where does Jodie Meeks rank amongst those players?

I rate him towards the bottom.

Well as far as guys who can actually play the shooting guard position better, I'd rate him right there with Marcus Thornton, or better.

He's a starter in Philly, and not limited to just being a jumpshooter. Not a good rebounder, and a weak defender..but a viable scoring option and a reliable shooter from the 3 and the ft line...I'd take him over a lot of the guys on that list, especially if my starting 2 wasn't a fantastic scorer.

Heck, I probably should've taken him.

JJ Barea is an average backup PG. A solid offensive player but a limited defender.

Jodie Meeks is one of the weakest backup two guards in the NBA. Chris Douglas Roberts is one of the weakest backup small forwards in the NBA.

Ersan Ilyasova and Jeff Foster are amongst the finest backup players at their respective position(s) in the Pick II draft.

What's wrong with Jodie Meeks?

Meeks is a good jump shooter but an atrocious defensive player and rebounder.

So if he's a 40% shooter from the field (not great), but a 40% shooter from 3 too, and has good scoring touch, I don't see how he's one of the worst backups in the NBA.

Quality third stringer.

Yeah, I think he is a less athletic Von Wafer with less of a handle.

See I think that's off base. Ah well, let Nick defend his own guys.

Well, I'll admit I have only seen him against the C's, so I am not the best authority on him.  But I was not impressed.  To me, he looked like an NBDL guy who was forced to play because Philly was so desperate for anyone who could hit an open shot.

Hey! Some of our nation's founders were NBDL guys!

Well...at least Anthony Tolliver.

Dallas Mavs:

C: Tyson Chandler
PF: Dirk Nowitski
SF: Richard Jefferson
SG: Josh Childress
PG: Jarrett Jack

6th men: Brandon Roy, Chris Andersen
Role Players: Tiago Splitter, Chris Duhon, Wes Johnson
Bench Warmers: Vlad Radmanovic (he will still likely play often, but it will depend on matchups), Greivis Vasquez (emergency 1, 2, or 3)

I am going to bring Roy off the bench to take pressure off his knee and limit his minutes, but also to allow the offense to run more through Dirk at the start of games, and let Roy take it over against the second units.  He will be in there to finish off games however.

Against many teams, we will probably finish games with a lineup of Roy, Childress, Jefferson, Dirk, and Chandler.  Childress can cover a lot of PG's, and he allows us to have more length on defense than with Jack, allowing the guys to get in the passing lanes and cause havoc.

Phoenix Suns
PG: Steve Nash
SG: Arron Afflalo
SF: Trevor Ariza
PF: Antonio McDyess
C:  Nene

Sixth Men: Charlie Villanueva, Omri Casspi, DeAndre Jordan
Role Players: Mario Chalmers, OJ Mayo
Bench Warmers: Donte Greene, Earl Clark

Too many 6th men? I expect the frontcourt minutes to be split pretty evenly. Nene gets 30-35 a night, and the remaining 60-65 will be divided three ways between CV, Dyess, and Jordan.

Casspi will see some time at SG, depending on matchups, otherwise, he gets 15+ minutes a night behind Ariza.

Mayo and Chalmers split backup minutes behind Nash, depending on the matchups. Mayo will also see some minutes at SG, so perhaps he should be bumped up to 6th man status.

A nine-man rotation, plus Chalmers as the 10th.

Hello my fellow C's fanz. How about that Nets game, right? I got awfully nervous in the third! But the good guys pulled it out in the end and that's all that matters!

Anyways, I was puruising through your message board links and came across this Pick 2 Draft. After reading all 200 pages of your drafting place I have determined that this Funk Grove team is pretty clearly this excercise winner's in all forms. Carmelo & Iguodala on ONE TEAM?! Could you imagine?! I mean, whoa.

Anyways, hopefully we have no have no feelings. Go Bean Town!

Sincerely your unbiased friend,
OTART
And through it all she offers me protection

Shameless. And inspired. I thought the typos were a nice touch.

Possibly the first time in blog history where someone gave himself TPs.

I wish I could say the typos were all intentional and not just the product of half doing my job on one monitor and posting on the other
