Granted, we all know who Rasheed is, and that is, in part, why his name is coming up...but is he the best big available?

After a long layoff, I really doubt it.

Shaq/Perk/Semih is a pretty solid C rotation, with Semih in the "Greg Kite" role.

No need for Sheed, even without JO.

I'd rather Sheed than Semih. Not to take anything away from Semih, but who do I think has a better chance of helping us win a title? Sheed.

Based on last time I saw them play, I'd say Bill Russell would help the most, but now, in 2011?  Of course not.  Same with Sheed.

The stretch run is no time to start training camp.

There are no shortcuts to a title.

that's the exact thing PJ Brown did in 2008....

How would it be a short cut to sign sheed? It means Danny is doing everything possible to make sure the team can win the title this year . JO can't be counted on and who know what Perk will look like coming off of major knee surgery .

I see a lot of people on here saying no to bringing Sheed back,  but what if he really does want to come back,  what if he wants another shot at the Lakers, and what if he really wants to go to a team with a shot at the championship,  and the Celtics say NO like many are suggesting.  If that was to happen what would the next team he would be calling,  can you say Miami.  Miami could use his size especially to counter C's size come playoff time.  Just a thought before you say no.
Oh. That would so be a dream come true.

We need to negotiate this. I'm sure for some of you the condition is him picking up the phone and saying "I'll be there when I'll be there, but I'll show up. It'll kinda be like last year".

This is my opening offer

1.   Complete tattoo removal.

2. A good long 3 hour conversation with no swears, no double negatives, no words you can't say on sportscaster or CNN.

3.  A one on one game against Semih Erden that he wins by at least two points.

4. A one on one game against Luke H that he wins by at least two points.

5.  A two on two game. He gets Von W and they get Nate. His team wins by two points.

6.  Several clean observed drug tests.

7. A clean physical.

8. Signing a contract where he loses 100K for every technical foul.

9.  He loses the whole thing if he doesn't finish the contract.

10.  An effort clause.  He has to give 100% effort every time he plays as agreed by an independent panel or he loses his whole contract.

11.  Agreeing to call every single person he sees for the duration of the contract "Sir", "Ma'am", "Father", "Reverend" or "Rabbi"

12.  He has to walk around with copies of Red and Larry's books in his hands at all times.

13. No ipods ever.

14.  No iphones or ipads ever.

15. Must be the best dressed member of the team at all times as agreed by an independent panel.

16.  No cigarettes or coffee.

17.  No strip clubs

18. No gambling

19.  No speaking with the following people till after the season...anyone on the Miami Heat or Lakers.  Randy Moss. Charles Barkley.  David Stern.  Any ref.  Tim Donaghy. Any political talk show hosts. Any radio host. Any espn personality

20 No mistresses

21 No tweeting or facebooking or misplacing his thoughts

22 No fast food

I guess if he can do all that.  Maybe I consider taking him back

I'm pretty sure that Waltah McCarty and Antoine want to come back, too...

But they could make positive contributions once in a while

I honestly think JO's career is getting close to over. He can't play more than 4-5 games without his knee blowing up. The way things are looking, they may need Rasheed.

Yeah.  JO has been a worse MLE signing so far than Sheed was up to this point last year.  How many people really thought he was going to be that disappointing?

Unfortunately we can't really just cut him because he's making too much money.  At least there'll be a lockout next year so we won't have to pony up for the second year of his deal.

I'm a little confused by the initial post.  Are we saying sign Sheed just so Miami doesn't sign him.  If Miami wants him, I hope he signs with him.  Do you really think Sheed has a chance to cover Davis, Garnett or Shaq? Absolutely not.  If another contending teams wants Sheed, then I'd rather him sign there.  He would be a great match up for us to go against.
do it

Well hey, if he can play at all he'd be better than JO.
Kinda like saying if a monkey with highly contagious ebola virus can play then he'd be better than JO.

Calling Sheed a cancer is inaccurate. That implies you maybe have a fighting chance and some time before things get bad.

The guy is an instant team killer.

I don't understand all the Sheed revisionism.  If a girl treats you cruddy for a year, then treats you nice for five minutes, then breaks up with you do you look back at the five minutes with fondness?

Remember when Perk was saying there was a split between the young guys and the old guys? Gee. I wonder who he could have been talking about.  The young guys are probably him, Rondo and BBD.

The old guys....hmmm. KG? Ray? Pierce?  The guys that won rings?  Or would it be Sheed?

Now Sheed is gone.  Do we hear about a locker room split any more?  There are new old guys around.  Are they destroying the team?  Do we see a completely lethargic team that plays and even walks like they do not care whatsoever?  Were they like that the year before Sheed came?

So what could the difference be?

In the mean time maybe the Patriots should take back Adalious Thomas too? I mean hey. They guy had some talent at some point.  If he can play at all then he would have been better the last four weeks than Brandon Spikes. Right?
